Wesley was just leaving the villa when his phone rang. It was the hospital.

"Excuse me, are you a relative of Ms. Charlotte Sterling?"

A knot of anxiety tightened in Wesley's chest. "I am," he said, his brow furrowing. "What's wrong?"

Whatever the person on the other end said made his expression darken. He strode quickly toward the garage. "Alright, I'm on my way now."

At the hospital, a nurse in the emergency room finished wrapping Charlotte's hand in gauze and gave her a list of instructions.

Charlotte cradled her arm as she walked out, looking up to see Wesley rushing toward her. "Lottie!"

"Wesley?"

"Are you okay?" he asked, his expression a mixture of tension and seriousness. "What on earth happened? How did you get into an accident?"

Charlotte lowered her gaze, about to speak, when two traffic officers approached them.

"Excuse me, which one of you is Ms. Charlotte Sterling?"

"I am," Charlotte answered.

"Ms. Sterling, we're investigating the accident. We'd like to take your statement, if you're able."

She glanced at Wesley before nodding. "Of course."

As she followed the officers to the side, Wesley's brows drew together tightly. He pulled out his phone and called Julian, instructing him to investigate the details of Charlotte's accident.

After the officers finished their questions, they left. Charlotte walked back, her mind clearly elsewhere. Wesley put his phone away, his gaze falling on her injured hand.

Seeing his concern, she touched the bandage. "It's just a minor injury. But I wrecked the car."

"It's just a car. That doesn't matter. Your safety is what's most important."
