Tyler got up, stepped out, and boarded the helicopter, planning to swing by Lindsay's place. Didn't she have five kids living there?

By the time he arrived, it was evening, and he had two of his men with him. After finding out exactly where Lindsay's house was, he headed straight there.

The grocery store owner downstairs initially looked at them warily. But when she heard they were sent by Lindsay, she asked a few more questions before handing over the key to the apartment.

Standing outside the door, Tyler hesitated. The door was plastered with flyers, and the place looked pretty old, probably not very big.

He inserted the key, turned it, and was greeted by the sight of several kids inside. Some were watching TV on the couch, others were napping in the bedroom, oblivious to what was happening.

Tyler opened his mouth, suddenly realizing these kids probably didn’t grasp the concept of death. Only the oldest seemed to understand a bit.

"Uncle, did Mom and Dad send you to check on us? When can we see them?" the oldest asked.

Tyler tried to muster a smile but found it impossible. Lindsay had been sentenced to death, and it wouldn’t be long before it was carried out. Was he really going to send these kids to an orphanage?

After a brief moment of hesitation, he turned to his men. "Take them to Greenfield."

If he left them at a local orphanage, who knows what might happen to them out of sight? At least in Greenfield, he could keep a watchful eye.

Tyler had thought about taking the kids in himself, but seeing them reminded him too much of Lindsay's painful life. He couldn’t bear it.

He could donate to the Greenfield orphanage and have someone check in on the kids every week, ensuring they grew up safely, got an education, and could eventually find jobs. If they couldn't, he’d set aside a few million dollars for them to live comfortably.

The kids' eyes lit up when they heard they were going to Greenfield. Last time their mom returned from Greenfield, she brought them loads of goodies and even got a new fridge and TV for the house. Now they were going to find her and live a good life together.

The oldest quickly packed clothes for the younger ones while Tyler waited in the living room. Despite its small size and single bedroom, the home was cozy, clearly maintained with care. Was it the work of that absent-minded man?

"Got it, Mr. Bennitt. You’ve already done what you could."

Tyler was a bit taken aback by the maturity in those words. He turned, took a deep breath, and said, "Alright, let's get you settled."

As the kids were getting into the car, the oldest left him with one last remark: "Mr. Bennitt, I think I know something happened to our parents. Otherwise, Dad wouldn’t have stayed away this long. He always said he loved us the most. I, too, wish I could slow down and not grow up so fast, like my younger siblings. Maybe then it wouldn’t hurt so much."

The child had seen orphanages on TV and knew what they were for. They were places for kids who had lost their parents. Now, they had become orphans.

Their parents were gone.

As the car gently pulled away toward the orphanage, the scenery blurred by. The oldest child held the hands of his siblings tightly, his gaze resolute.
