He drove his elbow hard into Devin’s face, then followed up with a punch.

Blood poured from Devin’s nose. Seeing their boss hurt, a few of his men rushed forward. Conrad spun around and fired several shots, hitting them in their legs and feet. Libby grabbed a shovel and jumped right in to help. She’d learned everything from Conrad since she was a kid—business, martial arts, even music and art. Even though she was the butler, she was also Conrad’s right hand. She could more than hold her own.

Conrad yanked his uncle back, pressing a gun into his side and gripping his arm, forcing him to watch the chaos.

“Take a good look, Uncle. Watch how your ‘victory’ falls apart in front of you.”

Devin’s men outnumbered the Sullivans two to one, but now the Sullivan bodyguards had guns, and every single one of them had special forces training. They were obviously stronger. Watching fifty of his men get pushed back by only twenty, Devin’s face turned gray. He clutched his chest and roared, “Get them! Grab the hostages, you useless idiots!”

He glared over at Wiona and her group. If they could just capture those people, they’d have the perfect leverage. How could his men just let them slip away?

But Wiona’s group had already started to move. Korey spotted Mr. Sullivan and quickly teamed up with Phil, steering everyone along the escape route they’d mapped out earlier.

As soon as Devin’s men lunged, Owen and Kyle stepped up, grabbing weapons they’d snatched from the chaos and fighting back.

“Owen! Be careful!” Tina’s voice was tight with worry.

“Kyle! Come back! Please!” Jasmine’s voice was shaking so badly she could barely get the words out.

Just then, a gun was aimed right at Kyle. A deafening gunshot rang out. The attacker crumpled to the floor. Owen stood with his service pistol raised. He’d stayed hidden in the crowd, so Devin’s men hadn’t realized he was a cop and never searched him. If they had, he wouldn’t have been able to save Kyle just now.

Jasmine’s knees buckled and she sank to the ground. Madison rushed over to help her.

“What are you doing?” Cole snapped, his voice full of anger. “Get up! Stop being useless!”
