“Was Wiona always this fierce?”

“Come on, back when she was with the Salisbury family, the only one who really cared about her was Grandma Grace. As for the rest… you know what Alona’s like.”

“I heard the same thing. She used to be so polite and obedient, always doing what she was told. Grandma Grace would brag about how thoughtful and well-mannered she was. But now that she’s out, is this her real personality finally showing?”

“Did you see the look on her ex-husband and the bride’s faces? They both looked like they swallowed a lemon. It’s hilarious.”

“Even when she was the Morgan family heiress, I never heard she could be this tough.”

“Maybe this is what she’s really like.”

“I wonder what kind of husband she married to give her this much confidence.”

“Husband? The wedding’s already started and he’s still not here. I bet she’s just bluffing, making the whole thing up.”

“If there’s no husband, then what about the baby she’s supposedly carrying…”

Still, nobody dared to get in her way. People whispered and gossiped, but Wiona tuned it all out. She honestly didn’t care what they thought. The real show hadn’t even started. It wasn’t time yet for the nearly thousand guests to see what she had in store.

Her phone buzzed. Conrad had texted that he was caught up with something and needed another ten minutes.

Wiona replied, “No rush. Take your time.”

Conrad: “Is anyone giving you a hard time?”

Wiona: “Them? Please. I came ready for anything today.”

Conrad: “That’s my Wiona! Hope I don’t miss the fireworks.”

She put her phone away, but suddenly got this weird chill down her spine. Someone was watching her. Not just the usual curious glances or side-eye from across the room. This was different. It felt sticky, almost like it clung to her skin, greedy and unashamed.

Wiona was sensitive to things like this. She could always tell when something was off. She turned, scanning the crowd.

The feeling disappeared instantly.

She knew she wasn’t imagining things. She studied the faces one by one, her gaze finally landing on someone she recognized. Neil.

“Listen to me,” he said, voice low and urgent. “Go to the garage, get the gasoline, pour it at the basement entrance, and set it on fire. Burn everything. Burn the house if you have to. Do it now.”

The housekeeper was horrified. “Mr. Salisbury, you can’t! That’s arson. You’ll go to jail—”

“Useless!” Isaac snapped.

He realized he had to handle this himself. Maybe there was still a clue on the security cameras, something that would tell him who did it. Compared to his secret, whatever happened at this wedding didn’t matter anymore.

He was about to leave when he spotted several men in black suits pushing a huge crate into the center of the hall.

“Mr. Salisbury! Mrs. Salisbury! Someone has sent you a special wedding gift. Wishing you both a happy marriage and a long life together. Please accept it.”

The men rolled the crate right up to the stage and spread out to stand around it. The crate was covered in red cloth, hiding whatever was inside.

Isaac froze. He stared at the crate, a wave of anxiety crashing over him, his heart pounding with a panic he couldn’t explain.

Could it be… No, it couldn’t be…
