Wiona checked on the girls. After rinsing their eyes and mouths, everyone crowded into the secret room together. The moment they saw all those photos covering the walls, anger took over, making them tremble.

“We’re only a few of his victims,” one of them said quietly.

“There are just a dozen of us here. Who knows how many other girls he spied on in this room, or even hurt, and they never found out what really happened.”

“Every photo here is proof of what he did,” another girl said, her voice shaking. “He deserves way worse than we could ever do to him.”

Even as they rushed out, Conrad pulled Phil aside. “Forget the other buildings. Just keep this room safe.”

Phil nodded hard, staying behind to guard the evidence, while calling for backup. They had to be ready to stop the fire from spreading.

Out front, the flames were already out of control. When Wiona and Conrad made it around the house, Nikolai came running with worry written all over his face.

“Ma’am, Mr. Sullivan, what do we do? Should we try to put the fire out? Smoke’s rising. The villagers are outside, and some want to come in. Should we keep the gate locked, or…”

Conrad looked at Wiona, waiting for her call.

She didn’t hesitate. “Open the gate. Tell the villagers to help with the fire.”

She ran to the main hall doors and pounded on them. “Bronwen! Bronwen, are you in there? The house is on fire. Why are you still inside? Get out, now!”

A rough, coughing voice called back. “Leave us alone. Go away. Just go!”

Wiona had no idea what those three were thinking, but if this kept up, how would Wilson pay for any of it?
