Hawthorne Hall.
“Conrad, I think I might be a Thompson.”
The words hung in the air, and Conrad went quiet for a moment. You could tell he’d already had the same thought.
“Maybe we should get another DNA test.”
He held their son in one arm and pulled Wiona close with the other, his voice low and steady. “Let’s eat first. We can talk about it in our room later.”
Wiona had come home a bit early, so she’d already had dinner with Annette and Alice. Now, she could sit with Conrad while he ate, looking after the kids and soaking up a little family time together. After dinner, Conrad played with their two boys for a while, then he and Wiona made their way upstairs.
When Conrad came out of the bedroom, Wiona was sitting cross-legged on the couch, texting Tatum. Conrad walked over, towel wrapped loosely around his waist, drying his hair with another.
She heard his footsteps and looked up, and it was like she’d been hit by a wave. Water droplets slid down his sharp jaw and dripped onto his chest, snaking their way over his abs before disappearing under the towel.
Wiona swallowed, her heart skipping a beat. Her grip tightened on her phone, and the faint creak of the case snapped her back to reality. Seriously, she’d just been completely distracted by her husband’s looks.
Then again, who could blame her? They’d been married a while now, their twins were over three months old, but she still hadn’t really had him. Sure, they’d been close, but never all the way.
A shiver of excitement and nerves ran through her. Maybe tonight was the night.
Conrad stopped in front of her, smelling fresh from his shower. He reached for her phone and took it from her hand.
“So, what’s more interesting—the phone or me?”
He leaned in, hands braced on the back of the couch, caging her in.
Wiona’s eyes traveled from his abs to his face. She couldn’t help herself. She reached up, cupped his cheeks, and kissed him.
