The Shadow simply raised an eyebrow. Being suddenly noticed did not invoke any panic in him, nor did he show any respect to the family master. He crossed his arms and replied coldly, "It is perfectly normal that Mr. Thompson hasn't seen me. When I appear, it is usually only to handle matters for Olive."

Allen frowned as he sized the man up. "So you are my father's man."

It was true that Olive had a few elusive subordinates whom Allen had never met, so he didn't harbor much suspicion. "Are you here tonight solely to keep an eye on this woman?"

"This involves the Blue family," The Shadow replied flatly. "He said we must prioritize caution."

Allen felt something was slightly off, but unable to pinpoint what it was, he simply gave The Shadow a few final instructions. "Then stay here and follow Ms. Thompson's orders."

Only the howling wind rushed into his ears as an answer. Trembling, Allen pulled out his phone, wondering if his paranoia was getting the best of him. But where did his men go? He tried to make a call, only to discover that his phone had absolutely zero signal.

"Damn it," he cursed under his breath. Noticing that the cabin in front of him seemed unoccupied, he decided to rush inside to find a landline or a spot with reception. There was no way he dared to wander outside in this eerie darkness by himself anymore.
