"Ms. Payne, please come out and look!"
The door swung open.
Dana was plastered against the wall, trembling as she pointed toward the living room, her face pale with terror.
Juniper looked over.
Ebony Fox was sitting on the sofa, clutching a handgun. She looked lethal, a dark aura of cold fury radiating from her. It was enough to startle Juniper, so it was no wonder Dana was glued to the wall in sheer panic.
"What are you doing here?" Juniper asked, confused. Hadn't she specifically ordered her to keep an eye on the others and make sure they didn't do anything reckless?
"Either you take this gun and shoot me right now, or you're taking me to Wraithfall Mountain." Ebony Fox stood up abruptly, her expression fiercely resolute. "Choose!"
"We agreed—"
"Yeah, well, I changed my mind." Ebony Fox turned her face away, avoiding Juniper's gaze, but her stance remained immovable. "I'm going with you. I'm going to protect you! If you don't let me go, I'll die right here! Right. Now!"
Juniper rubbed her temples, letting out an exasperated sigh. "What about the others?"
"I used Shanley's men to lock them in their rooms," Ebony Fox stated without batting an eye.
Juniper stood there, utterly speechless. Her older sister was as stubborn as a mule. If she said no, she really might do something drastic right here in the living room.
"Fine," Juniper nodded softly. "Pack your gear. We're going together."
"Already packed." Ebony Fox patted her tactical backpack, her voice practically vibrating with excitement. "I just need to put on the hyper-realistic mask. I'll blend in with your subordinates. Thorne won't notice a thing."
"Just don't speak, and it's best if you don't even look up," Juniper warned. Given her temper, one look at Corvus and she'd probably start exuding pure murder. She might just rush him on the spot.
"I'll be good," Ebony Fox promised obediently.

Right after Juniper and Ebony Fox left, Shanley pushed himself up and started walking toward the door, pulling out his phone to contact his men.
