"Boss, how will we explain this to Subterra Vanguard?" the subordinate asked respectfully. They had witnessed the Vanguard's capabilities firsthand; they weren't people to trifle with.

"A sudden storm capsized her boat. A tragic accident at sea," Corvus replied casually, as if recounting a fairy tale.

"Understood." The subordinate nodded, thinking it was a brilliant plan. Sigma Network was out of the picture. If the head of Subterra Vanguard died as well, and the experiments succeeded, Corvus would be utterly invincible.

Meanwhile, Juniper was murmuring to Luella and Ebony Fox. "The storm worked perfectly. The old bastard doesn't suspect a thing."

"So we stick to the plan? Strike at 10 AM tomorrow?" Luella asked in a hushed voice.

"Yeah," Juniper muttered, popping another piece of candy into her mouth.

"Start a fire, create mass panic, and use the chaos to let our Vanguard operatives inside the lab extract Dr. Sommers," Ebony Fox whispered, reviewing the steps. "Then I, Felton, and Flint will spread out around Thorne. We'll grab him and force him to hand over Mr. Blackwood."

"But safety is the priority," Luella stressed, leaning in so close she was practically nose-to-nose with Juniper. She enunciated every word. "If anything goes sideways, we pull out immediately. If we can't get your dad, we secure your mom and run."

"I agree," Ebony Fox chimed in, keeping her face buried in her collar to hide her features. "Saving one is better than saving none."

"Got it," Juniper said, crunching the candy between her teeth. A sour, bitter taste flooded her mouth.

"What's wrong?" Ebony Fox asked, noticing Juniper's slight grimace.

"The candy's a bit sour."

"Sour?" Ebony Fox looked at the wrapper in confusion. Wasn't this the brand Shanley had bought out and personally overseen the production of?

"It's not the candy," Luella chuckled, a teasing lilt in her voice. "I bet the little boss is just missing her fox, leaving a bitter taste in her mouth."

"Luella..." Juniper's cheeks flushed. She turned to stare at her. "Subterra Vanguard recently developed a new drug that causes permanent muteness. We're currently looking for a clinical trial volunteer."

"Oh?" Luella blinked rapidly and smoothly pivoted. "Sour? Sour is great! You can't appreciate the sweet without a little sour!"

Ebony Fox rolled her eyes in sheer disgust. What an absolute idiot. Talking nonsense and making her sister mad.
