"What are you looking at?" Luella cleared her throat.

"That's the first time I've ever seen you smile," Jared answered honestly. "You look really pretty when you smile."

She hadn't smiled once back in Stellara Country.

"Was that my brother-in-law on the phone?" Jared pressed.

Brother-in-law? Luella's cheeks flushed slightly. The title had a nice ring to it.

"I've seen him on TV!" Jared chattered on happily. "He's super handsome. You have amazing taste, Luella."

"If you keep talking this much, I'll still throw you in the dumpster."

Luella's lips twitched as she fought back a smile, deliberately putting on a stern face to threaten him.

"Mmph!"

Jared immediately slapped both hands over his mouth in terror, and the car finally fell completely silent.

The Sigma Network Base.

The moment Luella stepped into the grand lobby, a staff member blocked her path. "I'm sorry, miss, but this is a private facility. We're not open to the public."

Luella blanked for a second before remembering she was wearing a dress. Of course he didn't recognize her.

"I'm looking for Jimmie Tate." Luella took off her sunglasses and awkwardly pushed her hair back, revealing her full face.

"Mr. Langley?" the staff member blurted out in shock, instantly correcting himself. "Wait, no—Ms. Langley! You're back!"

"Yes." Luella smiled, letting go of her suitcase. "Where is Jimmie?"

"He's in the dining hall." The staff member quickly handed her a VIP pass, his attitude incredibly respectful. "You can head straight up to the ninth floor. Also, who is..."

"Him?"

Luella tilted her head, her expression deadpan. "A discount brother I picked up off the side of the road. Please figure out what to do with him."

Dropping that bombshell, she took the pass and headed straight for the elevators.

"Hey!"

Jared's face scrunched up like a steamed bun. Terrified that she was actually going to throw him in the trash, he threw his arms around her designer bag, puffing out his little chest. "I wasn't picked up on the side of the road! I'm her real brother!"

"I can see that!"

The staff member looked Jared up and down, a grin spreading across his face. "You two actually look quite alike."

Luella grabbed his hand, purposefully stepping right into his personal space. "Look at me. I know you want to!"

"Get out of my way—"

Disgusted by the stranger throwing herself at him, Jimmie instinctively reacted, violently shoving her away.

*Crash—*

Luella hadn't expected him to use that much force. Completely caught off guard, she stumbled backward several steps, her waist slamming hard into a console table with a jarring thud.

Tsk.

This brute! He was just as aggressive out of bed as he was in it!

"I apologize," Jimmie said, his brows furrowed deeply as he looked up. "I don't like being touched."

"Is that so?"

Luella straightened up, pulling off her sunglasses to glare at him indignantly. "Funny, I remember you enjoying it quite a bit when I touched you before!"

Hearing her voice, Jimmie froze completely, his dark, anxious eyes suddenly clearing as he focused on her.
