Harold suddenly stepped forward, his long legs crossing the distance in a few strides. He scooped her up again and carried her into the bathroom.

The tub was already filled with water.

He gently set her inside, pulling back slightly, only to realize her arms were still wrapped around his neck.

Lowering his gaze, his eyes caught the elegant line of her collarbone. His throat tightened abruptly, and he offered a raspy reminder. "What, you twisted your ankle, so your hands don't work either? Want me to wash you?"

"No."

Lorelei snapped back to reality, yanking her hands away in a panic. A blush spread across her pale cheeks as she whispered, "Thank you. I can do it."

"Towels and pajamas are on the chair. Call me when you're done."

Harold moved the chair a bit closer to her, made sure she was okay, and turned to leave.

The door clicked shut.

Standing in the living room, Harold turned his head to look at the closed door, a complex emotion coloring his eyes.

She had chased him all the way to Eclara City just for a divorce.

So impatient!

Inside the bathroom.

Lorelei took a quick wash. When she grabbed the clothes, she realized they were men's wear.

The shirt and pants were baggy and huge, but they were freshly laundered, carrying the faint, clean scent that belonged entirely to him.

She frowned slightly, enduring the pain as she dressed. She tucked the shirt into the pants and used a hair tie to knot the waistband so they wouldn't fall down.

Once dressed, she gathered her courage and called out toward the door. "I'm done."

Silence.

Lorelei bit her lip, cleared her throat, and spoke up again. "I finished washing."

"?"

Still no response.

Did Harold not want to see her? Had he just ditched her and left?

"Harold—"

She raised her voice. On her third attempt, the bathroom door finally opened.

Harold looked as if he had just stepped out of the shower himself. He was wearing a bathrobe, his short hair still dripping wet as he stared at her with a heavy expression.

"I'm done washing," Lorelei mumbled, repeating herself.

"Yeah."
