"How are things at the company?" Shanley asked. "Has Kurt been showing up on time to train and study?"
Uh... The two exchanged a look before Felton finally spoke up. "He goes in every day, but he doesn't stay long. He claims he has much more important business to handle."
"What 'important business' could he possibly have?"
Shanley took off his jacket and draped it over Juniper's shoulders, shielding her head as he helped her into the car.
"He said..."
Felton waited until Juniper was fully inside the car before turning his back and lowering his voice. "He said he needs to physically train his body, and he can't afford to slack off for even a single day."
"Does he really think anyone buys that?" Shanley scoffed, shutting the car door. "Pathetic. I don't even have the energy to call him out."
"And what's the situation with Ebony Fox?" Shanley took a few steps away from the vehicle, instinctively keeping his voice down. "How is she treating him?"
The two exchanged another hesitant look.
"Not great." Flint scratched his head and answered honestly, "It's a completely one-sided infatuation. She seriously just treats him like an annoying cadet. She's either kicking him across the room or screaming at him."
They had never seen a woman so ferocious. They genuinely believed she could drop two grown men with one punch. She was even more terrifying than Ms. Payne.
"Let him figure it out." Shanley frowned slightly. "He's punching way above his weight. Does he actually think he has a shot with someone like her?"
Chances were, she didn't even realize he was hitting on her.
"Keep his little crush a secret from Juniper for now." Shanley rubbed his temples. "I'm worried she might actually end his life."
"Understood."
Felton and Flint responded in unison.

Back at Cloudscape.
As soon as Juniper walked through the door, she immediately went to feed her two little turtles.
After her shower, she wandered over to Shanley with her hair still damp.
"Sit here."
He dropped what he was doing instantly, grabbing the hairdryer to dry her hair. "You've been running back and forth between the hospital and Subterra Vanguard these past few days. Why don't you take tomorrow off?"
