Juniper stopped in her tracks and looked back at Ebony Fox.

"?"

Ebony Fox's eyes widened slightly, her eyelashes fluttering. Her expression was radiating sheer guilt.

She didn't even need to ask; the evidence spoke for itself.

She was definitely hiding someone.

Judging by this breakfast setup, if it wasn't a wild coincidence, it had to be Kurt.

Did he come over this early just to cook breakfast?

Or had their relationship strapped itself to a rocket and sped straight into moving in together?

"In a really good mood today, huh? Cooking your own breakfast and everything."

Juniper sat on a chair, narrowing her eyes at Ebony Fox.

"Mhm."

Ebony Fox turned her head slightly, too guilty to meet Juniper's gaze.

This girl had eyes sharper than a hawk and a nose like a bloodhound. Ebony Fox half-suspected she had already sniffed out the truth.

"Have you guys eaten? Want to join me?" Ebony Fox quickly retreated into the kitchen.

She rummaged around but couldn't find any silverware.

Ever since Kurt had been coming over, he had completely reorganized her kitchen.

Everything was so misplaced she couldn't find a single thing.

Juniper rested her chin on her hand, speaking in a drawl. "Don't tell me you can't find your own bowls, Ebony Fox."

"Ah?" Ebony Fox scrambled frantically. "No, I'm just looking."

Shanley sat next to Juniper, leaning in to whisper, "Kurt is here."

Juniper asked, "How do you know?"

Shanley gestured toward the glass on the table. "I can recognize the smell of that Spiced Almond Milk anywhere. Kurt stole that recipe directly from me."

"You've got quite the nose on you." Juniper playfully nudged him with her foot. "And here you said you only found out recently. It seems you played a pretty big role in helping him win her over."

"I'm innocent."

Shanley grasped her hand with a roguish smile. "Maybe the Schwartz men are just hopeless romantics. We naturally know how to woo a woman."

Juniper raised her perfectly shaped eyebrows. "Look at you, getting all proud."
