The car sped out of the city center, heading toward a desolate stretch of highway.

"Another twenty minutes and we'll hit the shipyard district."

The man in the driver's seat caught a glimpse of them through the rearview mirror, deep murderous intent flashing in his eyes.

"Is that right?" Shanley fastened his shirt cuffs, pushed his wedding band slightly inward, and let a sharp smile touch his lips. "Pull over up ahead. I need to look for something."

This was their own car, having been temporarily impounded by Sunrise's people.

"Look for what?" The driver was instantly on high alert. "I can find it for you."

"You don't know where it is," Shanley replied patiently. "Besides, with all your guys out there, do you really think we could run away?"

The driver hesitated, refusing to agree right away.

"Honey, should I just upload that video?" Juniper's lazy voice drifted forward.

"Wait!" The driver frowned, slowing the car down and making a quick call to ask for instructions. Whatever the person on the other end said, his scowl deepened, and he muttered into the receiver, "If we say no, they'll leak the footage."

That single sentence had practically become their golden ticket.

Whatever the response was, the driver finally pulled the car onto the shoulder of the road.

The cars "escorting" them immediately hit their brakes as well.

Several tall, burly bodyguards stepped out, entirely surrounding their vehicle.

Their pockets bulged suspiciously—definitely packing heat and knives.

Shanley pushed the door open, casually strolling over to the driver's side. "If you're worried I'll try something, hop in the passenger seat and keep an eye on me."

The driver obediently slid into the passenger seat, his eyes locked firmly on Shanley.

"Tsk."

Shanley chuckled, leaning into the car and popping open the glove compartment, rummaging around with agonizing slowness. "Honey, where did you put your hair tie?"

"I don't know, just keep looking!" Juniper replied carelessly, her arms crossed over her chest, eyes closed in total relaxation.

The bodyguards standing outside frowned.

What the hell?

A hair tie?

They stopped on the side of a highway just to dig for a hair tie?!
