With a smile on my face, I looked at the woman in my office, carrying a one-year-old boy on her hip and a plastic bag, containing my dress in her other arm. I rushed to her to take the dress from her and laid it on my desk. "Roxy, how many times do I need to tell you to drop the formalities. And look at this little guy. He certainly grew since I last saw him. Can I offer you anything to drink?"
Roxy shook her head. "No thank you, you can however take this guy from me so I can use the restroom for a bit. I forgot how many times a pregnant woman needs to pee." She said with a chuckle.
I took the baby from her and she immediately waddled off to my private bathroom. I rocked him in my arms, earning me a smile. Jaxon must have been the cutest baby ever and I couldn't help to wonder what would have been my life if I didn't work sixty hours a week. Would I have settled down? Would I have had my own family?
"So, Marc, huh? He's a good guy. I was surprised to find out he's still single. Back in college, he was always taken by one girl or another." Roxy said from behind me. "It suits you, you know. The baby? I think that one day you'll be a great mom."
"Oh, come on Roxy, look at you. You're doing a fantastic job yourself. You're managing this little man just fine, and I'm sure your little bum in the oven will bring you nothing but joy" I said as I played with the hands of her son in my arms.
The door swung open and Alison barged in. "Sorry I'm late, me and Brandon were uhm... busy. Anyways, who's read to get mission 'how to find a husband in 100 days' on the road?"

I stormed back into my apartment while I was busy trying to get a hold of Alison. When she finally answered her phone, her breath sounded ragged and I couldn't help myself when I rolled my eyes. I swore she and Brandon could get it on like they were bunnies.
"You're back home awfully early. What happened?" Alison asked through the phone when she was finally being able to breathe somewhat normally again.
"I don't know. Maybe someone who's involved in his spouse's and his children's lives? Not seeing them as pieces in a play? Being around in general? My father is nothing more than a coldhearted workaholic. Anyways, thank you for setting up this date for me and Marc but maybe next time – let's just hope there doesn't have to be a next time. You and Brandon enjoy whatever you were doing before I interrupted, I've got some work to finish up. Can you cancel and reschedule all my appointments and meetings for tomorrow? I won't be in."
"Sure, no problem. Tell Chris I say hi, okay?"
With that our phone conversation ended and we both hung up the phone. It was my original plan to visit Chris tomorrow night, but ever since the awkward date I just had and my phone call with Alison, I figured to just take the day off and would visit him in the morning.
I finished getting through my emails for tonight and finished my glass of wine and decided to pour myself another glass and treat myself to a nice, long, and hot bath. It was times like these I could truly relax after a long week of work. With everything I did, I tried to make sure I wouldn't end up like my dad. To do that I tried to keep my office hours to a bare minimum and to make sure that even I was busy, I would still try to have some time left for my friends, family, and myself.
