She stared at the screen, eyebrows drawn tight. These suggestions felt way too personal and completely unprofessional. She was about to tell him to rewrite them, maybe think it through with a little more focus on operations and costs. She didn’t even get a chance to open her mouth.

Danny was already standing up, looking down at her from above. “Go ahead and bury yourself in work. If you run yourself into the ground, it’s not my problem. I must’ve lost my mind to skip out on diving just to talk about work with you.”

He shoved his hands into his pockets, looking like he wanted nothing more than to bolt. Without another word, he stormed off, his whole vibe screaming for people to stay away.

She tried to see things from a guy’s perspective, thinking about stuff like physical exhaustion and emergency supplies, and typed up a few practical suggestions. Only after closing her laptop did she realize the pain in her leg had gotten worse.
