He leaned in close, pinning her beneath him, not giving her a chance to escape. Emmy’s eyes filled with tears as she tried to crawl away. “James, are you out of your mind? I’m not doing this. Let me go!” But she was no match for him. He pulled her back easily, his hands gripping her slim waist, holding her in place from behind. Hot kisses trailed down her trembling back, slow at first, then rougher, more urgent.

“Emmy.” His voice was low, almost pleading in her ear. “You have to come early for the resort’s grand opening.” Emmy clung to the sheets, her face wet. “No way. I’m not going.” James just laughed quietly and nipped her earlobe. “If you’d rather try it for the whole flight at thirty thousand feet, I can always come pick you up.”

This time, Emmy was so frustrated she almost wanted to cry, but nothing came out.

He turned, strode out of the airport, and yanked open the SUV door. The moment he sat behind the wheel, all his sharp, dangerous energy came rushing back. The black SUV roared to life, tearing down the road toward the hospital.
