It wasn't until late into the night, when the two toddlers were sound asleep, that she finally and reluctantly stepped out to visit the study.

The next day, Emmy refused to go anywhere. She stayed inside, building blocks and reading picture books with her babies. When night fell, she brought the two little ones straight into the master bedroom so they could sleep with her. Normally, James would have worn a dark scowl and unceremoniously hauled the two little intruders back to their own room for monopolizing his wife. But tonight, surprisingly, he didn't kick them out.

Fresh from the shower and dressed in black silk pajamas, James leaned quietly against the headboard. One long leg was casually bent, and his deep gaze lingered on his wife and children.
