He looked at Tristan with a cool detachment. “You’re not in a hurry.”

Tristan frowned, still confused, when Kay’s phone rang.

She glanced at the screen—her assistant. Must be work. She stepped aside to answer.

“Ms. Winslet, all those male models were arrested—along with some of the ladies. It’s being called a ‘gathering’…”

“And a lawyer just visited those ladies. Not sure what deal was struck, but now they’re all claiming they were threatened. The models probably won’t keep quiet for long.”

“And, one more thing—a tabloid just leaked footage of you and Mr. Zeppelin from GrandScope Inc. at the hotel. The Winslet family is on their way and they want an explanation.”

It was clear all of this was aimed squarely at Kay.

Her face went pale, and she turned to look at Rupert.

He just met her gaze, impassive, eyes lowered.

Kay understood instantly who was behind this.

But she couldn’t say a word—she just clenched her teeth, swallowing the bitterness.

She hung up, straightened, and said, “Something came up at work. I need to go.”

Rupert barely spared her a glance. “Ms. Winslet, you really should take care of your own messes. Stop worrying about everyone else.”

Kay’s face flushed with anger and humiliation. She spun on her heel and left.

Reese put down her teacup and stood. “I’ll walk my aunt out.”

The two women left, one after the other.

Meanwhile, the butler leaned in to quietly brief Tristan on Kay’s situation.

Tristan narrowed his eyes at Rupert, a flicker of displeasure crossing his face before it quickly vanished. Mostly, he just felt frustrated at Kay’s carelessness.
