When Sylvia got home, Lester was already waiting outside her door.

He was on the phone. The moment he saw her, he murmured, "She's here."

Then he hung up.

Lester walked over to Sylvia, taking in her blood-stained clothes. "Are you okay?" he asked softly.

Sylvia nodded, her voice hoarse. "Yeah."

Lester pulled out a handkerchief and reached out to wipe a drop of blood from her neck.

Sylvia flinched away. His hand hovered in mid-air before he dropped it, smoothly changing the subject. "Let's go inside. We need to talk."

Sylvia didn't argue. She opened the door, and though the apartment was completely trashed and stained with blood, she walked in with eerie calmness, as if she didn't see any of it.

Lester watched her, a deep frown creasing his forehead.

"The couch is ruined. Go sit in the dining room. I'm going to change." Sylvia walked mechanically toward her bedroom, totally oblivious to the chaos around her.

Lester instantly sensed something was very wrong. "Sylvia..."

Sylvia ignored him and walked straight into her bedroom.

By the time she came out, Lester had already tidied up the living room, and the blood on the floor was mostly wiped away.

There was even a freshly brewed cup of tea waiting on the table.

Standing by the table with his sleeves rolled up, Lester said, "I'm not great at this, so this is the best I could do for now."

Sylvia clutched her injured hand, shifting uncomfortably. "You don't have to do this. We're broken up."

Lester pulled her into a chair and pressed the warm cup into her palms, gesturing for her to take a sip.

"Sylvia, you have to at least give me a chance to explain the whole story, don't you?"

"The bodyguard who broke your hand was actually bought off by Tristan. He did it so you would hate Rupert."
