Fascinating Danger novel Chapter 5

"You must be Addison. My son's had a lot to say about you" She smiles forcedly at me and I blushed even more. "Mother, must you speak?" Marco asked, looking slightly embarrassed.

Not as embarrassed as I was. "My name is Giulia, Marco's mother" she said as she sat down on the opposite side of the booth.

She pulled Marco to sit down next to her. He looked over at me, "You don't mind if we join you, do you?" He asked.

I shook my head, "No, that's okay. I could do with some company" He smiled at me and turned to Fabian's pram and pulled out some biscuits for him to eat.

"So, Addison tell us about yourself" She propped her elbows up on the table, waiting for me to speak. "Um...I just recently turned 22, so I decided to get my own place.

I've been saving up since I turned 16" I started. "Where did you move from?" She asked. "Kassentally" "Oh yes, I've been there before. Is your family still living there?"

"My mum died when I was three, so my dad had to look after me and my three older brothers. Only one of my brothers has moved out, the other two are still at home with dad" I said.

"How old are they?" She asked. The waitress came over and put my BLT and iced tea in front of me, and gave Giulia and Marco their meals too.

"Well there's my oldest brother Michael, he's 26, and he's the one who's moved out. Then there's Casper, he's 25. And Nick, he's 24" I said opening my iced tea.

I looked at Marco and Giulia's meals, Marco had a burger and a peach iced tea-the same as me- and Giulia had a bowl of pasta and a coffee.

"And what do they do?" She asked. "Well Michael's already married, and he's a lawyer. Casper works at dad's auto shop and Nicks a fireman" I said.

"Did you say your father owns an auto shop?" She asked, with a strange expression on her face. I nodded, "He needed at least one of his children working with him and he managed to convince Casper" I said smiling.

"Are your brothers nice to you?" Marco asked, joining the conversation. "Yeah, they're really good brothers. They're half the reason I managed to get this far" I said.

The waitress came over and took our plates. She smiled at me and Fabian. "He's so cute" she said to me. She probably thought I was his mother.

I was about to correct her when Giulia cut me off, "I know, my grandson is the cutest baby I have ever laid eyes on" she smiled at the waitress as she left.

"I think she thought I was Fabian's mother" I whispered to Giulia. She smiled at me, "Well you look like you're his mother"

"How?" I asked confused, Fabian looked nothing like me, he looked so much like Marco it wasn't funny. "You're acting like you're his mother. You'll make a great one when you have kids" she said smiling tightly at me.

I was acting like his mother? Did she think that is bad? Maybe I should put him back in his pram. I lifted Fabian up and put him back in the pram.

He started to cry and reach for me, but I sat back down in my spot. "I'm sorry, I have to go. It was nice meeting you" I said. I grabbed my bag and my iced tea and walked out the door.
