After hanging up, Marina grabbed her pajamas and headed to the shower. When she came out, her phone rang—her assistant had sent over a file for her to review.

Marina opened her email app. One of the image formats was unusual and wouldn't open on her phone, requiring a computer.

Marina's laptop was still at the hotel, but Carson had a desktop in his study.

She casually tied back her damp hair with a scrunchie and went to ask Carson if she could use his study.

The master bedroom door was slightly ajar. Marina knocked twice, but hearing no response, gently pushed the door open and stepped inside.

The room was dimly lit by a single bedside lamp. The sound of splashing water echoed from the bathroom; he was taking a shower.

Just as Marina was about to turn around, she heard a muffled groan from the man inside—suppressed, yet indescribably sexy and seductive.

Before she could finish her sentence, she realized exactly what the man was doing, and her face flushed a deep, burning crimson.

Not daring to stay a second longer, Marina quickly backed out of the room, pulling the door shut behind her.

Back in the guest bedroom, Marina's face was still scorching hot. That low groan, accompanied by the sound of running water, looped relentlessly in her mind. Her heart pounded out of her chest.

She didn't know if men could just take care of these things themselves, or if they absolutely needed a physical release.

Then a sudden thought hit her: he would rather take care of it himself than go find a woman. Could it be true when he said he hadn't touched anyone else since their engagement?
