When he arrives, he doesn't bother coming in front of the class, but stays by the door. "Class, due to unforeseen issues will we have to have class outside today. We will be working on stamina, so we will be running laps. Let's go." He does not sound, or look, very happy. That hard, cold exterior is back. A couple of the guys let out a groan, but we all stand and walk towards the door. I keep my head down as I walk by Felix, feeling his eyes bore into me.
We all get outside and I hear some of the boys yell in excitement. What's going on? My head shot up to see a bunch of random older people outside. And just then I spot my mom and sister in the back.
I push past some of the guys. "Mom! Lexi!" I grab their attention as my smile could rip my face in half. I bear hug my mother, who laughs and hugs me back. "Hey sweetie! How have you been doing?" She pulls back and looks at me as I explain everything that's happened so far in camp. She listens and makes a few comments here and there, then Lexi holds her hands out for me. "Wolfy!!" I smile and pick her up. "Hey there pipsqueak, long time no see!" She giggles and wraps her little arms around me, as I hug her tightly, tears of happiness streaming down my face.
I hold Lexi on my hip with her legs wrapped around my waist as I talk to my mother. I feel like it's been ages but it's only been a little over a week. I see Felix walk outside, smiling. I gesture with my head to my mother. "That's him," I say lowly. She looks at him then back at me. "That's your supposed mate?" I nod, and she sighs. "I knew this day would come sooner or later. Have you been marked?" I shake my head no, and she relaxes. "So I'm guessing he doesn't know?" I shake my head again. She nods. "Are you planning on telling him?" I sigh. "I'm not sure yet.." I explain to her my thoughts, and she listens attentively. When I finish my rant, she sighs. "Honey, I may not know everything about werewolves, but I know that mates are for life. You only get one in your lifetime. And if you feel this strongly about him, maybe you should give it a shot." I was shocked. My mother has told me my entire life to hide my mark, never tell anyone. When I was younger she made me wear one piece bathing suits just to cover my mark when we went swimming in the lake. She always told me it was just too dangerous and wasn't worth the risk, and now she's telling me to trust a person I've only known a week?
I nod, and rub Lexi's back and humming. I look down at her, and she's sleeping. "You know she's barely gotten any sleep since you've been gone. She says it's because you're not there to sing her to sleep." I look down at her. "Well I'm here now, and I'll sing to her as much as she wants me too," we both smile at sleeping Lexi.
I made the decision to talk to Felix after dinner. Not tell him about my mark yet, but to talk to him about this whole mate thing. I pick at my food, not really hungry at the moment, while Lexi sits on my lap. "Aren't you going to eat? The foods amazing here!" My mother says. I smile. "Not nearly as good as your cooking." She smiles a toothy grin. "You're too sweet honey."
After dinner I escort my mom and Lexi back to their room. I had told my mother my plan to talk to Felix. She hugs me. "Good luck sweetie, and remember, no matter what happens, I will always love you." She kisses the side of my head, and I smile. "Thank you mom, I love you too." She walks inside and I put Lexi down and hug her. "I'll be back tonight to sing you to sleep, okay?" She smiles at me; I can see she recently lost a tooth. "Okay Wolfy," she whispers in my ear. I let her go and she runs inside to mom, and I start down the hallway.
