DARIEL’S POV:-
God, that woman would become the end of my world if that continued.
Ever since I permitted her to go loose with her feelings, she was not halting at all, forcing me to my edge also by her demeanor, provoking me too and there was nothing I could do to stop her.
I was indulging in my drink as Saafia was nowhere to be found and Veronica bumped into me. Still frightened, looking down, turning her head away.
“Oh, you came too? I thought you wouldn’t.”
“I had my reasons to come.” Ignoring her presence, I looked around to wonder where the ‘protector’ must be.
“What?”
“You all will know it soon.”
With a cold reply, I walked away. If it wasn’t for Saafia I would have shown her what I could do to the point she won’t be able to spend a second here.
“Huff…”
Sighing, I was looking and saw Saafia with Jared, bringing a frown on my lips instantly.
“I am sorry about your Dad, Saafia.”
I was about to call her rude but heard Jared speaking apologetically.
“It’s alright.”
“Are you okay? You loved him a lot.”
“Hmm. Dariel was there for me, he helped me a lot, he made me forget my every pain.”
My steps froze when I heard it.
She smiled sheepishly accompanied by an elegant smile. The shine on her face while mentioning me made my heart pound.
‘Really?’ I thought in surprise.
“Really?” Jared asked that too.
“Mhm. If it wasn’t for him, I’d be still in depression and guilt but when he is here, I forget my grievances. He stood by my side, he did a lot to me. In fact, he tried his best to save Father too.” She nodded shyly, chuckling to herself.
She was admiring me to the man I had destroyed.
To say Jared was astonished would be an understatement. I never perceived I would hear anything good purely about me.
‘Why do you say what no one did about me? Why do you see me so bewitchingly in the first place?’ I thought.
It made me feel… strange.
Placing my hand over my heart, I felt the heartbeats magnifying and I knew if I stayed any longer, my sensations would grow uncontrollable so I got away hastily.
“What the hell you do to me, woman.” Muttering, I grabbed another drink and finished it quickly.
I stood away from Saafia because if she saw me, she would rush to me. Curling my hands in a fist, I took a deep breath to control my overflowing feelings.
“Look at her, Dariel. You are giving her too much freedom. Look how she is talking to her ex. Have you done the same if it was Veronica?”
Furrowing my brows, I turned only to see Jacey with a frown, ravaging my mood along with those flutterings.
“Saafia is not Veronica, Jacey, and I would appreciate it if you stop acting like a hypocrite.” I taunted, rolling my eyes.
“What the hell is your problem? You find us wrong when she is the one who is a desperate woman.” She hissed in a low tone.
It was true, if it was Veronica, I would have taught her a lesson but how could I… hurt Saafia?
Especially not when after I became the one who annihilated her sorrows.
“Jacey. Watch your mouth. Who you are calling a desperate woman is your sister-in-law.” I warned her seriously.
“You have gone blind. You will see how she will leave you like Veronica one day.”
“Why don’t you care about your bastard lover?” I scoffed, wanting Sam to shatter her heart so she could realize.
“Of course, you will find my Sam wrong. Fine then, you can also come to your sister when she will abandon you like everyone else.”
My jaw clenched when she made a sensitive remark.
“Tsk.”
Frowning, I ignored her and went to see Saafia again.
The second I came, Jared was obviously frightened. Saafia grinned at me, my heart skipped a beat that woman’s felicity.
“B-Boss? I-I-”
“May I know what you are doing here?” Pretending to not notice Jared’s fright, I stood beside Saafia, with one hand in my pocket, and I took a sip of my drink.
With these thoughts, I left with the woman who was hexing me by each passing second.
When my eyes met hers, that prayer also came from the bottom of my soul- ‘May God bless our marriage.’
VERONICA’S POV:-
He… smiled?
Was that demonic creature capable of smiling? If that was me, he would have locked me in the room and hurt me but when his ‘beloved’ Saafia did it…
He smiled?
The second they left, I rushed to Jared, “Jared. What were they saying? What happened?”
“Oh, hey love. Where were you?”
He grinned, putting his hand on my shoulder and pulling me closer but my eyes were not removing from Dariel who was lost in his wife.
“I have good news, Saafia convinced Boss to finally leave us alone. I told you it would be over soon and we can get our lives on track.” He told me sweetly but my mind was elsewhere.
I couldn’t look away from them.
“She convinced him? And he listened too? No, no, that’s not possible.” I asked in disbelief.
“Yes. Now we can live peacefully.”
“He must be lying. No one can convince his heart of stone, Jared. No one holds that privilege.” I whispered, shaking my head in denial, refusing to accept this.
“She does. Good for them. Maybe that was for the better. Don’t worry, everything is going to be alright.”
He was always sorrowful for what he did to Saafia and when she moved on, it made him peaceful. I won’t deny, Jared loved me a lot.
But, It was hurting me to see that I was married to him for a year too, why did I never get that treatment? Why did he never smile at me?
“Veronica? Babe?” Jared called, turning me to him.
“Nothing,” Shaking my head, I forced a smile. Hugging him that if Dariel never did but at least Jared gave me the love and respect I never received.
Yet, I was impotent to ignore the sting in my chest. It made me feel envious.
‘Why was such treatment never given to me in our marriage?’
