To say I was shocked would be an understatement. I had no idea what he went through his tiny brain to perceive that I would hold any affection for him.

Heck, not affection, any feeling for a low man like him.

“What?!” Gasping, my jaw dropped to hear his ridiculous enunciation.

“Yes. And I know you have something in your heart for me too. You are silent because of Dariel. You told me yourself that he kept you caged.” He continued seriously, staggering me.

Blinking, it took me a few seconds to register his mindless words which were impossible.

“What are you-”

“Don’t lie, Saafia. You are here for me. Please, it’s going to be alright, I am here for you. I love you so much and I know you want me too.” He got up sternly.

It felt strange how his statements changed in a second. Disgusted, I was about to slam my hand on the table and throw something at him to seal that mouth but another female’s voice came from behind.

I shouldn’t have come.

“See. I told you, Dariel, that she is cheating on you!”

My jaw dropped. I recalled it was Veronica and turned to see that jealous lady, “What…!?”

But, then my eyes fell on Dariel’s stoic face. His jaw was clenched, a thread of rage staying in the corner. Wearing a black shirt and gray waistcoat with sleeves rolled. He came in his dominant form, holding a grimace.

“D-Dariel…?”

My eyes widened at his visible fury, traveling his glare from me to Sam. My throat dried, holding the table in dread when he didn’t speak a word, numbing me at his seething expression.

“So what? We didn’t do anything wrong. What did Dariel give her to make her happy? He had ruined her life.”

And that Sam continued, drying the back of my throat in anticipation of how Dariel would react. As possessive as he is, he won’t listen.

“What the hell are you saying?” I gasped, horror traveling in me. I turned to Dariel who narrowed his eyes.

“You didn’t have to be afraid, Saafia, I am with you. I know he has hurt you, that you don’t want him. Let him know you came to meet me.” Sam continued as my steps stumbled.

Tears brimming my eyes when they were creating a fake scenario to ruin my bond with Dariel.

I should have known he was doing this for vengeance.

“Dariel, he- he is lying.” I whimpered, shaking in apprehension, releasing a tear, shaking my head in denial.

But he held an unreadable expression on his face.

“I am not lying. Then why would you come to see the man you were with alone in the room once? Why did you come here? You are here on your own will.”

My heart beats dropped in fright, a shiver went down my spine. He was trapping me horribly and the look in Dariel’s eyes alarmed me.

“You were treating me horribly. Look at the wife you were adoring so much. What did she do? At least I didn’t manipulate you like she is doing it.” That bitch Veronica also continued.

I gasped, whimpering, looking expectantly at Dariel, “They.. are wrong, Dariel. You know me, I am not like this.” I whispered desperately, praying Dariel would support me.

“Jared, you and now Sam too. Is that woman you wanted?”

“Stop it! Dariel, say something. Y-You.. Know me, right?” I broke into a sob, slamming my hand down when Dariel came closer.

“I trust her, blindly! This whole world can be wrong, a liar but my Saafia is not! When she said she didn’t then she fucking didn’t!”

My heart skipped a beat, a pleasing sensation, and strong feelings rushed in me when Dariel unexpectedly supported me.

The way he came before me and beat up Sam, it increased my feelings. He was truly sincere when he spoke about protecting me and being my shield.

All my frights dispeled instantly, looking up at my man in admiration to have his support as he kicked Sam for the last time and turned to Veronica.

“And you-”

Dariel glared outrageously at her. The wrath in his eyes indicated he would do the same to her and it would create a scandal.

Dariel was about to do something but I came in between, holding his arm to not do anything which could gain more attention.

“Dariel, no, no, please.” I whispered breathlessly, crying silently, stopping him.

He growled, pausing to glance at my miserable face and relaxed his shoulders.

“You are so dead, Veronica. How dare you disgrace my Saafia?” He hissed, holding my arm and pulling me to his chest as I was stunned.

“I will keep each accusation both of you had made on my woman. For a second, I was about to let you live peacefully but now watch what I would do.” He warned, pulling away from the duo who dared to separate me and Dariel by their petty attempt.

After being done with him, his glare shifted towards me, stopping my breaths. He was not pleased with me either.

He might have supported me here but the look of disapproval was crystal-clear. I didn’t want to disappoint him but apparently I did.

“And you, are you happy now after humiliating yourself? Come with me now.” He taunted angrily, taking my hand roughly and took me with him, overflowing with exasperation.
