After her shower, she was about to dry her hair when Ethan Carter swooped in to take over.

“Come here, sit down. I’ll do it for you,” he said, patting the chair in front of him.

He’d gotten into the habit of drying her hair for her lately, and Olivia didn’t mind at all. She slipped into the chair with practiced ease, settling in as if this was the most natural thing in the world.

Ethan switched on the hairdryer, testing the heat on his hand before running it gently through her hair.

For a while, the only sound in the room was the low hum of the dryer.

Olivia’s hair was thick and long, so it took a while before it was finally dry.

“All done,” Ethan announced, turning the dryer off.

Olivia ran her fingers through her hair, thoughtful. “I think I’ll get it cut soon.”

Ethan raised his eyebrows. “Why the sudden urge?”

She shrugged. “Well, I’ll be showing more in a couple of weeks, and washing and drying all this hair will get annoying. Shorter hair would be easier.”

Ethan frowned. “If that’s the only reason, you don’t have to cut it. I can take care of it for you.”

Olivia met his eyes in the mirror. “I can’t rely on you every single time.”

“It’s not a bother,” Ethan said seriously. “If you like your hair long, keep it. I can’t take away the hard parts of pregnancy for you, but I can help with the little things.”

His words actually touched her.

“It’s not just that,” she admitted, twirling a strand around her finger. “I’ve had long hair for ages, but I’ve been thinking about going short again. I wore it short all through college—right to here.” She held her hand just below her jawline.
