Olivia gave Damian a quick goodnight before heading back to her room.

She sank down onto the sofa, pulling out her phone and scrolling to her chat with Ethan.

She typed a quick message, paused, and then slowly erased it letter by letter.

Just as she was about to put her phone away, the door swung open.

Ethan Carter walked in.

Olivia blinked in surprise. “You’re back early!”

Ethan stopped about a yard away from her. Her phone screen was still on—their chat open, but no message sent.

“Were you about to text me?” Ethan’s dark eyes softened with a gentle smile.

Olivia glanced at her phone and gave a quiet “Yeah. I was going to, but I didn’t want to bother you.”

“You wouldn’t,” Ethan said, lips curving up as if he wanted to hug and kiss her.

He started to move closer, but then paused, hand halfway to her. “I smell like beer. I should shower first.”

Olivia frowned. “You were drinking?”

She sniffed the air, but didn’t catch any scent of alcohol.

Ethan shook his head. “Nah, I didn’t drink. The others did, but you know how it is, the smell sticks.”

Olivia gave him a little wave. “Then go ahead.”

Ethan reached out from a safe distance and ruffled her hair. “Wait for me.”

With that, he disappeared into the bathroom.
