As she spoke, Olivia made a move to get up, but Helen reached out and gently tugged her back down.

“You guys go ahead and drink,” Olivia said with a smile. “I’m good.”

Helen’s eyes widened in confusion. “But I bought enough for everyone! One glass each!”

Olivia sighed quietly, realizing Helen had misunderstood. She leaned in and lowered her voice. “I’m pregnant, Helen. I can’t really drink right now.”

Helen’s head bobbed in understanding—pregnant, of course. No wonder.

Wait. Pregnant?!

Helen’s eyes grew as wide as quarters. She stared at Olivia’s stomach, which looked as flat as ever, searching for any sign. “Olivia… Are you serious? You’re actually pregnant?”

Olivia nodded, unfazed. “A little over a month now.”

Helen was so stunned she just kept nodding, her mind spinning. In the past few weeks, she’d already been hit with so much news—Olivia’s whirlwind marriage, now a baby on the way… Each one was bigger than the last. She could hardly keep up.

When she finally snapped out of it, worry creased her face. “Olivia, why didn’t you tell me sooner? You’ve been running yourself ragged at the studio. I had no idea!”

Olivia just smiled, her tone gentle and reassuring. “It’s just pregnancy, not bed rest. I know my own limits. Trust me, if I thought anything was wrong, I wouldn’t even be here. This baby’s already the most important thing in my life.”

Helen nodded, knowing Olivia was right, but it didn’t stop her from fussing. “Well, from now on, you call me if you need anything, okay? You just stick to snapping photos, leave the heavy lifting to me. Deal?”

“Okay,” Olivia agreed.

Helen turned to go, but just as the door was about to close, she poked her head back in. “Seriously, Olivia—call me if you need anything.”

Olivia grinned. “I will.”

As the door finally shut, Olivia rested a hand on her belly. A soft smile tugged at her lips.

For the first time in a while, it felt like things were finally looking up.
