“Of course it’s me. Surprised?” Genevieve hovered in midair as if gravity had simply forgotten about her. Her smalt, exquisitely shaped feet hung there effortlessly, every line of her poised and deliberate.
She flashed Leander a syrupy smile. That breathtakingly delicate face of hers softened into something almost girlish, playful in a way that felt dangerously intentional.
Leander, however, had no interest in admiring her.
His expression darkened, and his voice turned glacial. “You again. Don’t you ever go away?”
She drifted closer, light as a feather, and settled down right in front of him. Then she lifted a finger and wagged it at him. “Wow is that really how you talk to a lady? I am a woman, you know. Aren’t men from the outside world supposed to have some basic gentlemanly manners? Because I’m not seeing any on you. You’ve already seen every inch of me. The least you could do is speak to me a little more gently.”
His expression did not change. His tone stayed flat, stripped of warmth. “I’ve never claimed to be a gentleman. And gentle? Sorry. Not for you. I remember very clearly what happened in the Sahar Wastes Desert. You and I settled everything with a single strike. It was over. So, why do you keep coming back?”
She clasped her hands behind her back and tilted up her chin, all sweet defiance. “The part where you saw me naked? Yes, that’s done. I’m not here to chase you over that. I came for something else.”
Leander’s gaze sharpened. “Spit it out.”
A sly glint flickered across her eyes as she stepped closer, closing the space between them. “I want you to be my husband. Come home with me.”
Suppose any other girl had said that to him, he would’ve laughed it off. But with Genevieve, there was nothing funny about it. He could tell she was completely serious.
“I already told you in Highcliffe. Not happening.” He shook his head immediately, firm and absolute. “You and I crossed paths by chance. At most, we shared a few complications. That’s it. I have a fiancee. Stop showing up and stop interfering in my life.”
He did not wait for her reply. He turned and strode toward Villa No. 1, clearly done with this conversation.
“Fiancee? You mean Daphne from the Highcliffe Florians?” Genevieve’s voice floated after him.
Leander froze mid–step. His pupils tightened. Slowly, he turned back around. The air around him seemed to drop several degrees, a lethal chill settling over his features as something dangerous flashed in his eyes. “What did you do to her?”
Even with her King Phase cultivation, she was caught off guard by the intensity in his eyes. She waved her hand immediately. “Relax, you don’t have to get all worked up. I didn’t do anything to her! I was just curious. Someone like you, a once–in–a- generation genius–what kind of person would your fiancee be? So I snuck a peek, that’s all!”
She paused for a moment, then pointed her finger firmly. “Look, in terms of looks, she’s on par with me, I’ll admit that. But her family? A total joke compared to mine. Even ten of the Highcliffe Florians together wouldn’t measure up to a single cadet branch of my family. Talent–wise, sure, in the outside world, she’s a rising star among the young Martial Practitioners. But where I come from? She’d barely make the middle tier. Nothing special. And cultivation? She’s just stepped into the Transcendent Realm, while I’m already in the King Phase. Ten times stronger. Add it all up, we’re equals. So you should forget about her and be my husband instead!”

Genevieve looked at Leander, speaking each word like it was the most natural thing in the world. And somehow, that just froze him
in place.
I’ve never met a girl who’s this blunt. And get this, she’s literally comparing herself to Daphne and telling me to dump Daphne just because she thinks she’s better. What kind of logic is that?
A few dark lines appeared on his forehead.
“I have no idea what you’re talking about, and your proposal? Not interested,” he said, then didn’t linger. He turned and strode straight toward Villa No. 1.
“Hey, wait for me!” Genevieve called, chasing after him as he just walked off. “She’s not good enough than me. Did I say something wrong? Great people belong with other great people. What’s wrong with that? Are you seriously saying you should settle down with someone way weaker than you?” She looked at him, genuinely baffled, and kept pressing him with questions.
Leander kept his gaze straight ahead and let out a faint, almost dismissive chuckle as he shook his head. “Genevieve, I don’t know where you’re from, and I don’t care how powerful or prestigious your family is. To me, none of that means a d’mn thing. Daphine is my fiancee. I don’t care if she’s strong or weak, beautiful or plain. Even if you were a hundred times better than her, so what? She’s the one I love. Not you.”
He tossed the words over his shoulder without breaking stride and continued toward the villa, leaving Genevieve standing there alone, stunned into silence.
“Love?” A few seconds later, she snapped out of it. Her expression was turning strange and unreadable. From the time she was a child, her family had drilled one belief into her over and over again: stand with the strong. If she were to choose a husband one day. he would have to be powerful. Strength was everything. Strength was truth.
For twenty–one years, her life had revolved around cultivation and meeting elites alongside her elders. She had shaken hands with prodigies, dined with titans, and measured people only by how formidable they were. Love had never entered the conversation.
And yet, just now, she had heard that word from Leander’s mouth for the very first time.
As she watched him approach the villa doors, she suddenly lifted her chin, something shifting behind her eyes. “So what you’re saying is, no matter what she looks like, you’ve already decided she’s your fiancee?”
“Exactly,” he answered without hesitation.
“Is that so?” A cold edge crept into her voice. “Then I’d really like to see if you’d still care this much… after I ruin her face.”
The instant the words left her lips, a crushing wave of killing intent swept across the sloped parking lot. Thunder split the night sky. A bolt of blue–violet lightning tore downward and detonated in the trees nearby, reducing a towering trunk to splinters in a single, violent blast.
Leander spun around as brilliant blue Primordial Energy ignited in his palm, blazing and dense, the air itself seeming to compress beneath the crushing weight of his aura.
“I didn’t quite catch what you said just now,” he said flatly. “Why don’t you repeat it?” There was no emotion in his voice. His icy eyes locked onto her, unblinking, unyielding.
Genevieve’s expression changed instantly.
It felt as if some ancient beast had fixed its gaze on her, a primordial predator poised to strike. The pressure suffocated the space around
me, she had no doubt. If she dared to repeat herself, he would kill her without hesitation.
