“James, what do you want me to say?”

“Apologize? Fine, I apologize. I’m sorry to Helen…”

“Or, do you want me to wish you well? That’s fine too. I, Heather, wish James and Helen a lifetime together…”

“Or, do you want to slap me again to feel better? Go ahead, if you want to hit me, just do it. Don’t waste my time.”

She tilted her head back, closed her eyes, as if waiting for that slap to land.

James froze, and for a long time, he didn’t react.

The scene was dead silent.

Suddenly, a woman’s figure rushed out from the crowd, protecting Heather behind her, and pointed at James’s nose, shouting angrily.

“James, are you even a man?! Hitting a woman?”

“Did you forget when you were poor and had nothing, Heather chose you? She had many wealthy and handsome men chasing her back then!”

“You’re having an affair, and now you even have the mistress flaunting it in public, bullying your wife? You’ve completely lost the face of a man!”

Heather opened her eyes in shock and looked at the woman standing in front of her.

It was Xena, her best friend from college, who was righteous but impulsive.

Heather knew things were getting out of hand.

Before he could speak, Helen cried out behind him.

Xena was about to keep cursing, but Heather quickly pulled her behind her.

She had seen James send her sworn enemy to jail with his own hands. She knew how ruthless he could be. If he wanted to, he could make Xena disappear without a trace.

Helen cried, looking pitiful.

Heather stepped forward voluntarily.

“Helen, I apologize for Xena. You can punish me however you want, but this is a matter between the three of us. Please don’t involve anyone else.”

“I will.”

Heather looked at him with red eyes.

She knew he wouldn’t let things go, and that he would stand up for Helen.

“James, you can punish me however you want, but you must promise not to cause trouble for Xena.”

“Yes.”

“Then I want you to take off this dress right here, right now.”

Her words made everyone present stare in shock.
