"You're wrong!" I snapped, but his words hurt. They struck a chord within me.
"Sorry to tell you, sugar, but I'm not. Not that any of that matters anymore, since you're with me now, wearing my mark, and in a few days you will officially rule with me," he said softly. "As my queen, my mate."
I grunted as I tried to get out from underneath him, but he just held me tighter, forcing one of his knees between mine, splitting my legs apart. I gasped in a frantic surprise, trying to jerk away from him. "Hold still, gorgeous."
"What're you doing?" I gushed, my anger fading while my fear was rising.
"I'm going to show you how well I could take care of you, if you'd only let me."
He touched my hips, lifting me up to sit on his waist. "I don't know what's worse. How infuriating you are, or how much it turns me on," he hummed, leaning towards me, his head tucking into my neck. "I'm the only one who can give you the pleasure you want, you know. You think that little trick I played on you felt good, that's nothing. Only a sliver."
"I don't want you to pleasure me," I whispered weakly. "P-put me down."
"Sure you do, kitten. But let me-"
"N-no! Put me down!"
Dominic's chest rumbled in a growl, his eyes darkening as a shot of pleasure ran through me, making me shudder and fall limp. "See, Princess? Just that felt nice. Imagine everything else I could do." He did it again, and a traitorous moan escaped me, causing his whole body to stiffen. He grinned into my throat, biting down playfully. "Got you."
"Stop it. You're just t-trying to distract me fr-from the fact that you chose wr-"
"I didn't choose wrong, baby. You're just in denial. You're scared."
He carried me over to the bed and dropped me onto my back, climbing on top of me. "I am not scared," I grumbled, gritting my teeth.
"You are always stuttering when I get close to you. Of course, you're scared. I don't blame you, though. It's scary to be a sweet little human, brought into the world of Shifters. It's a big change. It's only natural for you to be afraid. That's why I'm here to walk you through it, sweetheart."
"I'm not little," I hissed. "And I'm not afraid."
"Sugar. You're afraid. But I'm going to help you. You aren't alone. I'm gonna take care of you, Cara."
His head dropped, lips pressing to my forehead, and I felt power surge from him and towards me. It knocked me out within seconds, regardless of my promise not to fall for it.
A hand stroked down my side, slowly rousing me from the deep sleep. I was planning on pretending to stay asleep, but when a stone-like hand came down hard on my rear end, I jolted into full consciousness, blinking up at Dominic, who just grinned at me.
"Good morning."
*Flashback*
Alfie and I giggled, chasing each other through the trees. Alf won every time, obviously, but it was still fun.
"Pups!" A sharp voice snapped suddenly, breaking us out of our imagination. Alfie shoved me behind him protectively, standing tall as an enormous man appeared in the trees.
"One pup, and one little human, it seems," the man corrected himself, gazing down at me with a wicked smile. "What's your name, boy?"
"Alfie, sir."
I hid mostly behind my friend, but kept one eye peeking out at the scary man. "And who is your friend?"
Alfie opened his mouth to answer, but the man waved him off. "I want her to answer. Move away from her." Alfie didn't hesitate to move beside me, leaving me feeling vulnerable. "Hi, princess. What's your name?"
"Cara."
His grin grew a little more scary, and I inched back towards Alfie for protection. The massive Shifter's hand shot out, gripping my arm tightly. "No. Come here. No hiding."
