Chapter 1677: Vizconde Marco Sebastian del Aguila y Gonzales

Inside a private jet, René Alejandro opened his eyes. He automatically scanned the cabin for any threats. Seeing none, he heaved a sigh of relief.

The flight attendants had already withdrawn to their crew bunk, leaving the handful of passengers to rest. The cabin was dim, but it flew steadily in the sky.

René Alejandro opened the window beside him and peeked at the black sky outside. He glanced at the real-time travel route. The plane was above the ocean. No wonder it was so dark that it almost felt like they were travelling to the abyss.

He checked the lone passenger across the aisle. A cold gaze settled on him, causing him to freeze for a couple of seconds.

"Papa, how are you feeling?" René Alejandro asked.

Vizconde Marco Sebastian del Aguila y Gonzales, viscount of Castillo de Estrellas, didn’t reply. Instead, the handsome middle-aged man continued looking at him with ice-cold eyes. It felt like looking at the devil himself.

René Alejandro took a deep breath, steeling himself, and left his seat. Then he sat on the seat across from the viscount.

Ever since his adoptive father woke up, Vizconde Marco had changed. His personality had become colder, more silent, and more...threatening. René Alejandro couldn’t figure it out completely.

The vizconde had not only forgotten who everybody else was but had also forgotten about his own identity. He was now an amnesiac.

René Alejandro and his stepmother, Wei Lan, did everything they could to trigger the vizconde’s memories, but to no avail.

At first, René Alejandro was in denial. How could his father forget about his own identity?

With the kind of background they had, forgetting anything was deadly. Any mistake could cost them their lives with enemies eyeing them from the shadows, waiting to swallow them up.

When he and Wei Lan first found the vizconde in Barbados, he was almost on his last breath. There was even a moment where he flat-lined and clinically died. Fortunately, the doctors were too frightened for their own lives and did everything in their power to revive the vizconde.

The vizconde survived and became stable, but the recovery process still took a long time. The injuries were too severe.

In addition, Barbados wasn’t exactly safe for them. The force behind the assassins who targeted the vizconde was still at large.

René Alejandro took the still recuperating vizconde, Wei Lan, and his men to several countries to shake off their trail. Not everyone knew about the vizconde’s real identity, but it was better to be safe than sorry.

He initially worried that Wei Lan might start suspecting, but thankfully, the woman was stupid. She remained blissfully unaware of the truth behind the scenes.

She acted like a "dutiful" wife who cared for her ill husband now and then. Of course, it didn’t hurt that René Alejandro handed her a supplementary credit card, which he claimed came from his father. The woman treated their travel as a huge shopping spree. She even brought her flamboyant friend, Randy, the Zumba instructor. The two literally shopped until they dropped.

Like her, Randy was clueless about everything. Although René Alejandro disdained their stupidity, he was also relieved by it. If they had been any smarter or sharper, he would have immediately killed them to silence the two forever.

René Alejandro might not even bat an eye when killing someone, but deep inside, he preferred not to take lives carelessly.

It also helped that the two were always gone shopping, so that he could do what needed to be done without worrying too much about being exposed. Spending some money on them wasn’t that bad of a deal. After all, he planned to use Wei Lan as a cover while his father was in recovery.

After making sure that they lost their pursuers, René Alejandro finally decided that it was time to make use of Wei Lan. Now they were on the way back to China.

It was more difficult for outside forces to endanger them in the country. Fortunately, René Alejandro had already somewhat established a foothold there, albeit an unstable one. If their organization could only swallow up Jin Corporation, one of the country’s biggest and most powerful multinational companies, then they had nothing to fear. They could do whatever they wanted then.

Unfortunately, Jin Corporation was proving difficult to even infiltrate. Its security system was world-class, perhaps even beyond that. It was also under the protection of the rising hotshot hacker, Drakon, and his disciples, WhiteTigress and BlackPanther.

As a hacker himself, he knew how sophisticated and advanced a security system should be for him and his brothers to crack it.

Since virtual system attacks were difficult, they were now focusing on physically infiltrating the company. But even then, their camp still faced constant failures.

He had already given up on the Youngs, but it seemed that the Matador was still not done playing with them. The psychopath had long taken over the Youngs and their part in the organization’s mission.

Back to the present, René Alejandro faced his adoptive father.

"If you’re feeling uncomfortable, there’s no need to endure it, no? Let me know if you require anything, Papa. Your health is the most important."

Vizconde Marco studied him with ice-cold eyes before looking at the half-opened window at the black sky outside.

René Alejandro thought that his father would ignore him.

The number of times that he and his father talked ever since the vizconde woke up from a coma could be counted on one hand. Besides the vizconde asking about his identity and background, he didn’t bother talking to René Alejandro.

"Pour me a glass of wine," the vizconde said.

René Alejandro was too stunned to speak.

The vizconde looked at him with those ice-cold eyes again. "Have you become stupid like those two?"

He pointed at the sleeping Wei Lan and Randy.

René Alejandro calmed his excited heart. "Right away, Papa."

He stood up and grabbed a new bottle of red wine before pouring two glasses of it. One for his father and one for him.
