Outside the hospital.
Lana forcibly pulled her hand away from Elmer's grip.
"What is wrong with you? Why did you drag me out here?"
Elmer slowed his pace, letting out a heavy sigh. "With both of us there, it would be… difficult for Nia to go see Jonathan."
Lana froze, her eyes widening in surprise. "So… you deliberately pulled me out of there just so Nia could go see Jonathan?"
Elmer fell silent for a moment before nodding. "Yeah…"
"But he's your rival, isn't he? I thought you couldn't stand him."
Lana could see the intense hostility Elmer felt toward Jonathan. After all, among all of Niamh's admirers, Jonathan was undoubtedly the greatest threat to him.
"I do hate him," Elmer admitted, his expression grim. "But… he really sacrificed a lot for Nia…"
Lana’s eyes grew even wider. Then, she nodded in agreement.
If Jonathan hadn’t sacrificed himself in that crash, Niamh might not have made it out alive. Lana shuddered at the thought, a wave of residual fear washing over her. She had initially disliked Jonathan intensely after Niamh told her he was responsible for her miscarriage and her inability to conceive again. But what he did this time had completely changed her opinion of him.
Lana opened her mouth to speak, but the words caught in her throat.
