“Damn it!” Natalie muttered as soon as she left the area around Eli’s dorm. “Why is she starting to avoid me?”

The sky over Raven was growing hotter. Natalie clicked her tongue again and continued walking toward the gym. The place where David was.

Some of them were grateful for Natalie’s arrival and hoped David’s emotions would soon settle down. They had to face fairly intense training in preparation for the intercollegiate basketball championship a month from now.

David turned his head, his jaw immediately tightening. “Don’t mention that name again, Natalie. We’re already broken up.”

Natalie was stunned. “Oh my God! You... seriously?” She looked at David sympathetically, but inside, she was cheering with joy. “Broken up? Oh my God, David. I really didn’t expect that. You two were doing fine, weren’t you? There was only a little misunderstanding, and didn’t you... talk to Eli about it?”

“There was no misunderstanding between us, Natalie,” David scoffed.

“Are you okay?”

“Of course not,” David hissed.
