Three knocks sounded at the suite door, soft but clear enough to cut through the tension hanging in the air. No one moved for a fraction of a second. It was as if the entire room had stopped breathing together.

Lydia, standing near the table, instinctively turned toward the door. Her fingers were gripping Naomi’s medicine bottle so tightly that her knuckles had gone white. Liu had already moved first, body alert, eyes sharp as blades. Meanwhile, Cale stood beside the sofa where Naomi slept, silent and straight-backed, his calm presence somehow making the room feel even more strained.

Liu’s phone was still in his hand. The last message on the screen had not yet faded.

They’re coming up to the floor.

The knock came again.

“Don’t open it yet,” Lydia said softly. She tried to sound calm, but anxiety still slipped into her voice.

Cale didn’t answer. He glanced briefly at Liu. “Who’s covering the hallway?”

“Two of our men at the far end of the corridor. No danger signal from them yet, sir.”

A third knock followed, this time accompanied by a low voice from outside.

“Mr. Liu.”

Liu recognized the voice immediately. He moved fast, disengaged the lock just enough, and opened the door only a narrow gap. A young man in a black suit stood outside, breathing slightly hard, his face tense from running.

“Inside.”

The man stepped in, and the door was shut at once. He gave Cale a brief bow before speaking.

“Sir, our team saw three of Don Falcon’s men enter through the main lobby. Two others stayed in the lower parking area. The first group is coming up in the guest elevator.”

Lydia’s face paled. “How long before they get here?”

“Less than two minutes, most likely.”

The words struck like an alarm that didn’t need to be loud to be dangerous.

“We’ve temporarily cut the corridor cameras on this floor,” the man continued quickly. “The east side service elevator is clear. Kitchen route is empty. Second vehicle is waiting behind the building.”

Liu gave an approving nod. “Good.”

Cale turned to Naomi. She was still sleeping through her fever, cheeks pale, hair damp against her temples with sweat. Unconscious, she looked even younger, fragile and almost defenseless.

“We move now,” Liu said.

This time, Cale offered no objection.

Lydia immediately grabbed her bag, Naomi’s medicine, and the essential things she had half-packed in panic earlier. “I’m taking all of this.”

“Bring a few others to clear Mr. and Mrs. Miller’s belongings. Make sure nothing is left behind,” Liu ordered sharply.

“Yes, sir.”

Everyone moved at once. Lydia hurried to gather the rest of her and Cale’s important things, making sure nothing was forgotten.

Naomi stirred on the sofa, disturbed by the sudden activity around her. Her eyelids fluttered open slightly, then closed again. Her lips moved faintly.

“My head… hurts so much.”

Lydia dropped to her knees beside her. “Naomi, sweetheart, we need to move for a little while.”

The girl tried to sit up, but even lifting her shoulders looked far too difficult.

Before Lydia could help, Cale was already bending down. With a steady movement and no hesitation, he slid one arm beneath Naomi’s knees and the other behind her back. In a single breath, her light body was

in his arms.
