There was no way Vincent would give an order like that on his own initiative. There was only one person excessive enough to consider the possibility that she might get lost, become bored, or get into trouble simply because she went to the restroom.

But the only reason that made perfect sense for Cale to treat Naomi this way was because of what had happened at the previous banquet. Of course Cale did not want that to happen again.

“Mr. Cale’s orders?”

Daniel did not deny it. And strangely enough, his honesty made Naomi click her tongue softly again. This time, however, it was not entirely out of annoyance. Somehow, Naomi’s mood was beginning to improve, although... she would never admit it easily.

“He just wanted to make sure you were okay.”

Naomi rolled her eyes. “How annoying.”

Despite saying that, a faint smile appeared on Naomi’s face. Cale was still thinking about possibilities that had never even crossed her own mind.

“Let’s head back to the hall, Miss.”

Naomi nodded lightly.

They began walking down the corridor, which had once again fallen quiet. The golden light from the wall lamps stretched softly along the hallway, reflecting off the polished marble floor. In the distance, the music and the guests’ conversations could still be heard faintly, as though the party existed in a different world from where they were standing now.

Naomi tried to focus on the small steps they were taking. But the conversation she had just overheard continued to circle in her mind. Every remark that questioned Cale, every insinuation disguised as concern, still left behind a lingering irritation that was difficult to ignore.

She had just let out a long breath when Daniel, walking beside her, suddenly stopped.

Naomi halted as well. Her brow immediately furrowed, and when she lifted her head, she instantly understood why.

The man stood not far from the end of the corridor. His posture was straight, both hands tucked into his trouser pockets, as though he had been waiting there for quite some time. Naomi had no idea how long he had been there, but one thing she was certain of: Falcon’s appearance was no coincidence.
