"Yes," Chris replied with a nod. He briefly glanced at the watch around his wrist. "We should head home."

"Ah, yes. You're right." Naomi agreed. She had no desire to listen to a lengthy lecture from Cale if they returned late. Cale was a punctual person, and when it came to him, one needed a very good reason for being late.

As they turned to walk toward the car, Chris suddenly stopped.

His eyes narrowed as he briefly glanced toward the row of cars parked beneath the shady trees across the street.

Before Naomi could ask anything, Chris's hand shot out and grabbed her wrist, pulling her away at a half-run toward a narrow corridor beside the main building.

Naomi, completely unaware of what was happening, immediately panicked. "Chris, what's wrong? Why are we running?" she whispered breathlessly, trying to keep up with Chris's long strides.

Chris did not answer. He continued leading Naomi around the back of the campus, past an emergency exit route, until they finally entered a small two-story café that had a rear entrance leading out to another street.

Chris led Naomi upstairs and chose the farthest corner, one shielded from outside view.

For several minutes, Naomi could only clutch her chest as her heart pounded from fear. She kept watching the staircase, thinking that enemies or Falcon's men had just found them.

However, that tension immediately vanished when Chris suddenly leaned back in his chair and laughed softly. It was a laugh that sounded completely unrestrained and amused.

Naomi glared at him, utterly confused and annoyed at the same time. "Why are you laughing? Who was chasing us?"

Chris wiped the corner of his eye, which had become slightly watery from laughing. "Relax. There are no enemies. We just shook off Daniel."

"Daniel?" Naomi frowned.

"Who else?" Chris smiled in satisfaction, glancing out the second-floor window to make sure the car that had been following them had truly disappeared from sight. "Why else would that guy be following us ever since we left the mansion this morning? I noticed his car back at the second university."

Naomi let out a long breath. The panic she had felt gradually subsided, replaced by growing confusion. "Then why did we have to hide like this if it was Daniel?"

"I'm sure this is all Cale's doing," Chris replied as he relaxed into his chair. His mischievous smile widened. "So let's let my beloved brother worry a little when we suddenly disappear from Daniel's radar."

Naomi immediately narrowed her eyes. "You did that on purpose?"

"Of course."

"Chris!"

"What?" The man did not look guilty in the slightest. "Consider it a small payback for being overly protective and ruining our date agenda."

Naomi immediately turned her face away. "You're still talking about that?"

"Of course!" For some reason, Chris seemed to be getting bolder and bolder about teasing her every day. "Come on."

Chris suddenly stood up, causing Naomi to look at him in confusion.

"Come on where?"

"To watch a movie," Chris replied lightly.

"Watch what?"
