"Why did you choose such an early flight?" Lydia asked in confusion.

The man she was questioning merely let out a cynical laugh. "Why don't you ask your husband, Mrs. Miller?"

Cale, who seemed preoccupied with his phone, simply raised an eyebrow before saying, "Because I haven't finished punishing you yet."

Lydia shook her head helplessly. "How much longer is this feud between you two going to last?"

"Until he realizes..."

"Just wait until Dad finds out that I came to Carrington Bay only to be tortured by Cale." Chris clicked his tongue in annoyance.

"Dad won't believe you," Cale replied with a shrug.

Despite the endless bickering, the Miller mansion felt far livelier this morning than it had over the past few days. Warm sunlight streamed through the large windows of the family room, illuminating the gleaming marble floor. The aroma of freshly brewed coffee still filled the air, mingling with the scent of toasted bread drifting in from the kitchen.

"Fine. I'd better get going," Chris grumbled in an unfriendly tone.

Cale chose to ignore him.

It wasn't long before Chris was standing at the front door with a medium-sized suitcase beside him.

"I've got all the documents with me," he said as he checked the contents of his briefcase one last time.

Vincent gave a brief nod. "The car is ready, Mr. Chris."

"Good."

Standing not far from him, Cale handed him a thin folder. "As soon as you get to Sun City, meet with the TnC legal team. The partnership draft you finalized last night needs to be signed immediately."

Chris accepted the folder with a quiet sigh. "I just got out from under your punishment, and now you're giving me work again."

"You're still alive. That means my punishment was too lenient."

Chris could only shake his head in resignation.

Lydia, standing beside her husband, chuckled softly. "Don't forget to eat on time. You always skip meals when you're working."

"I know."

"And don't drink so much coffee."

"You're starting to sound like Cale." Chris clicked his tongue in annoyance.

The lighthearted conversation brought smiles to the faces of several servants as well. Over the past few days, Chris's presence had indeed made the mansion, which was usually so quiet, much livelier.

But one person had yet to appear.

Chris glanced toward the staircase. "Naomi isn't up yet?"

"She is," Lydia replied softly. "She's probably still getting ready." In truth, Lydia knew Naomi had been awake for almost an hour. The girl had simply spent far too long standing in front of the mirror, taking deep breaths over and over again before slowly letting them out for no apparent reason.
