Chris, who was sitting not far from her, looked up as well. "Maybe a delivery?"

"You think?" Naomi smiled faintly. "Did Mr. Miller go shopping again?"

Her remark immediately drew a soft laugh from Lydia.

A servant walked toward the front door. A few seconds later, the sound of several approaching footsteps echoed from the porch, followed by overlapping voices in conversation. Naomi frowned slightly. The voices sounded so familiar that she instinctively turned toward the door. Before she could even stand, several figures had already entered the living room.

"Naomi!"

Grace was the first to run over to her.

Without giving Naomi a chance to react, she wrapped her in a tight embrace. The hug was warm, yet filled with all the anxiety she had been holding back. Grace's body trembled slightly as the tears she had been fighting finally fell, dampening Naomi's shoulder.

"You really scared us," she whispered.

Naomi closed her eyes for a moment, carefully returning the embrace. She could feel how genuine Grace's concern had been all this time. Her father must have told Grace that Naomi had been seriously ill, hiding what had really happened.
