I wrapped my arms around his neck as he strode through halls, my head was tucked into his neck as I fought back the urge to sleep.
"Open the door."
I heard him command before I heard the shuffling of feet and I was brought into a room, my room. He placed me down at the bed and went back to lock the door.
"You could've waited for me Adira."
His voice wasn't hard, instead it was patient and tired. I wiped at my tears and hiccuped. Two warm hands cupped my face and lifted it up as he wiped away the tears.
"Y-You don't have time for me anymore."
I whispered and he gave a defeated sigh.
"I would love to spend all my time with you Love, but I have to establish control before everything else. The possibility that we might get attacked cannot be ignored."
I nodded my head and sniffed again, he took out his handkerchief and extended it to me. Dabbing away at my eyes and nose with it, I put it aside and pulled him in for a hug. Since he was kneeling in front of the bed, his head came to rest against the crook of my neck, his arms wrapped around my waist as he released a deep sigh.
"...Was there no way to save the others?"
I questioned and he stiffened before replying, his voice coming out muffled against my skin.
"I didn't know about it till he demanded that I pick a bride."
I nodded slowly as the tears began falling form my eyes again. Severus sighed and pulled back to wipe away my tears.
"I didn't know what he did with the rest of them until a few years ago but by then he had already stopped."
His hands rubbed circles into my back gently lulling me to a drowsy state, barely managing to keep my eyes open, the last thing my ears heard was him muttering something like:
"I'll protect you, with my life if I have to."

2 weeks later:
I woke up with a thundering heart and looked around in panic. When I didn't see anyone there I grasped my head and pulled myself up against the head board. Clutching tightly onto my hair, I pushed it aside and buried my head in my arms.
Nightmares, Bloody nightmares, nightmares in which someone always died. I had been having them a lot and they grew worse and worse with every passing day.
The rain continued to pelt against the ground, so hard that it seemed angry, with all the dirt, dust, darkness and corruption that had accumulated during its absence. Its heavy beating was followed by thunder strikes, a war seemed to be going on up in the skies.
It made me forget about all the bad dreams from the past week and instead focus on its rage, I now understood why people feared being struck by lightning. As a kid I would always go out when it rained in hopes of knowing what it felt like.
Right now though, the sky wasn't so inviting and the night wasn't so peaceful. I thanked the skies that pelted away the sound of gunshots ringing inside the mansion.
Here I was, locked inside my room, away from all the blood spill, bullets and guns. It had happened around 9 o'clock, I had been awoken because of all the ruckus outside. Severus had been in the room with me and after he relaxed me enough for me to understand what he was saying, he took his leave. Having to deal with this all as the new boss.
The wall disappeared, the collar unlocked and withered away into air but my eyes remained focused on the shadow that was now cleared. A smile visible at her face as she opened her arms towards me invitingly.
"Mom?"
Her smile widened as I ran into her arms and clutched onto her tightly. Her hands ran through my hair as she kissed my head the way she always did.
"You've grown so much baby."
I sobbed harder, tightening my arms around her.
"Mom..."
She shushed me and hugged me tighter to herself. I grew shorter and shorter back to the size I was when I was separated from her.
"I love you so much."
She whispered and bent down to scan my face. My lips remained a wobbly mess, refusing to move as I tried to tell her how much I missed her. Words failed me as I fell to the ground in a heap of tears.
"I know baby."
She muttered and petted my head gently.
I forced my lips to move, squeezing out the words through the lump in my throat.
