I quickly nodded my head, agreeing to everything he said. Because practicing a pose was far much harder than the exercise itself. But I wasn't so sure in this case, I had never held a real gun before and the simple thought of doing so made me feel ecstatic.
Edward turned around, aiming at one of the bottles before explaining why he was standing like he was.
"The position that is best for long range shooting for beginners is this one. Legs spread equal to the width of the shoulders. Dominant hand on the trigger and the non dominant one being used as support."
I nodded again, taking in his position again and also noting down that his left hand was the dominant one.
"But of course, there are some restrictions to this position as there are to all the others. The main one would be that in order to secure a proper hit, the victim and the shooter must be at equal ground. If you're below, than wide spread legs will only be a hindrance. Not meaning that they should be perfectly closed either. A minimum distance of at least half your waist would be the best in that case."
My mouth formed an 'O' and I let out an excited squeal as he turned to a tree and shot at it, I watched for a second before an apple dropped to the ground. The branch on top of it seemed to have been his target and I was undoubtedly impressed.
Edward turned around as I clapped, a victorious smirk on his face. But it disappeared the instance he looked towards me-behind me- to be more precise. I turned around in confusion and grinned widely as Severus approached the two of us.
"I'm starting to believe that choosing you was the right choice."
His arm snaked around my waist as he pulled me close and landed a kiss to my head. Edwards chest seemed to puff out at the praise as he responded.
"Of course brother, glad to have not disappointed you."
Severus nodded his head.
"So how far have you gotten?"
Edward glanced at me as I glanced at the fallen apple a few yards away.
"We were discussing the positions which are best for beginning shooters."
"Alright, I'll take it her off your hands then, I've left a file in your room."
Edward nodded towards the both of us before handing Severus the gun and jogging off towards the door. As he and Shane disappeared inside, Severus whispered slowly in my ear.
"Lets begin then, shall we?"
*****
I nodded with a blush on my face as he gave a tantalizing smile. I had to force my gaze away, knowing I'd probably stare for too long. Then again, I doubted Severus would mind that. Sometimes when I would stare at him for longer than usual he said it was easy for him to pick up on whatever I was feeling. And there were times where I randomly complemented him and he would pass me a full grin, a very rare, full grin.
It no doubt made him look even more handsome.
Severus had removed my finger from the trigger earlier on, when it didn't stop twitching. He called them 'trigger happy fingers' and said they were very dangerous. more than 90% of the accidental shootings were caused by happy fingers.
His exact words were:
"Sometimes when sensing danger, the mind immediately instructs the index finger to shoot in the direction the person sensed danger from. However, in the case of trigger happy fingers, it's when someone is anticipating danger, or too excited, like you are right now."
I had blushed as he saw through my hidden grins and squeals. Only releasing one or two when he shot two bottles, not blinking or wavering for a moment as he did so.
"Alright love, fingers on the trigger."
I breathed a sigh and shifted my finger below his, he chuckled above my ear. Making me shiver as he did so.
