A blond thug holding a baseball bat was facing the house, his chin jutted out arrogantly.

"Are you all deaf?! Didn't you hear me?! Get the hell out here!"

Mamie instantly flew off the handle. She grabbed her phone and stormed outside. Roseanne and Scales couldn't stop her in time and had to run out after her.

"What do you want?" Mamie stood in the doorway, hands on her hips, glaring at the blond.

Fabian raised an eyebrow. "Well, well, what's this fatso doing here? You trying to play hero for the Smiths?"

The word "fatso" was a direct hit on Mamie's last nerve. "You're not fat, you're just a scrawny beanpole! Anyone with eyes can see you're a malnourished weasel. A stranger might even think you're a drug addict!"

Fabian's expression soured. Just then, a guy with white-blond hair jumped forward. "Hey, bitch! What the hell are you talking about?! You must have a death wish!"

Mamie couldn't understand his thick accent, but she knew it wasn't a compliment. The blond and the white-blond had similar features and builds. Mamie was actually being polite; the two were wiry like monkeys, with dark circles under their eyes and discolored lips. Their eyes were cloudy, their cheekbones sharp, and their expressions were vicious. They gave off a deeply unpleasant vibe.

"Where's Mr. Smith?" the blond sneered, his threat clear. "If he knows what's good for him, he'll sign the transfer contract. Otherwise—"

"Otherwise what? You're going to try and force him to sell?!"

The blond shot her a cold look, then turned to his partner with a grin. "Looks like this fatso needs to be taught a lesson."

The white-blond raised his bat. "Fine by me. I'll do it—"

"You dare!" Mamie stood her ground, chest puffed out. "This is a civilized country! If you lay a hand on me, I'll call the police!"

"I've never heard of a village being someone's private property."

"Tch—that just shows how little you know. Time to educate you city slickers! Jay, get 'em!"

At Fabian's command, Jay rushed forward, swinging his bat. Scales instinctively shielded Mamie and Roseanne, putting himself in the path of the attack. It was too late to dodge.

In the nick of time, Carlson Smith bolted out of the house with a shovel, blocking Jay's descending bat with a loud clang.

Jay's attack was thwarted. He stared for a second, then a cold smirk spread across his face. "Well, look at you, Carlson Smith. You've grown a pair, have you?! Daring to fight back?!"

Carlson Smith stood protectively in front of his friends, his body tense. He gripped the shovel tightly, his palms sweating. "Fabian! Jay! You injured my parents and put Arkle in a coma, and now you want to attack my classmates?! In your dreams!"
