Since when did Logan get to decide whether she had children or not? Even her future husband wouldn't have the final say—it was her decision alone.

The thought crossed her mind. She decided to brush off Logan's comment, hurrying toward the delivery room.

When she arrived, I was tightly holding Brandon's hand. The pain was intense now, and my heart was a mix of fear and anticipation.

"I'm here, honey," Brandon said, stroking my face to comfort me.

"The patient needs to go into the delivery room. Please step aside," the nurse reminded us.

But at that moment, Brandon's hand was my source of strength, my safety net, and my way to cope with the pain. I was so overcome by pain that I didn't notice I had squeezed his hand so hard it was bleeding.

"Miss, we'd like to request that a family member be present during the delivery," Brandon insisted. He was worried about leaving me alone, especially since Lisa hadn't arrived yet.

"Did you apply for this in advance? It requires the director's approval," the nurse replied, sticking strictly to protocol.

She was new and didn't know about my relationship with Lisa. If she had known, she probably wouldn't have been so strict. But of course, she wasn't wrong—she was just following procedure.

"I approve it," Lisa said, arriving just in time.

Without hesitation, she rushed toward me and said, "Let's get you into the delivery room. I'll examine you."

At her words, the nurse quickly wheeled me in. Lisa added, "I'll change into my scrubs."

When she came out of the resting room, she was surprised to see Logan still there. "Uncle Logan, why are you still here?"

"How much longer will this take?" he asked instead of answering.

"It's hard to say. If everything goes smoothly, it could be just a few minutes. But if there are complications, it could take several hours—maybe even until morning," Lisa said. She tied her scrubs as she walked toward the delivery room. "You should go back and spend the holiday with Grandpa and Grandma."
