"Why were you eavesdropping Amelia?" I asked calmly.

"I was just––trying to–––"

"Just leave," James spoke, cutting off her mumbling.

Walking away from us, he looked at me then back at her retreating figure before speaking. "Then you wonder why I don't trust her."

Walking inside the St. Regis hotel and into the ballroom, I saw that the fundraiser had more people than I had anticipated. Walking up to Ms. King who was chatting with someone, she ended her conversation and bid them goodbye the minute she spotted me.

"Adam darling," she cooed as she pinched my cheek and wrapped me in a motherly hug. Chuckling, I pulled away and kissed her on the cheek.

"Ms. King, it's so lovely to see you. I just stopped by to hand you the cheque in person and leave." Going into my jacket pocket, I took out the envelope that had the cheque and handed it to her.

"I know this is not your scene but at least stay for five minutes. Mingle and talk and if you're still not feeling up to it, you can leave." Giving me one of her pleading looks, I reluctantly agreed. Smiling at me, she kissed me on the cheek before she ventured off to speak with more people. Going over to the bar, I asked the bartender to give me a glass of champagne.

Sipping it, my eyes landed on the red-haired beauty that was standing a few feet away. She was dressed in a black dress that had a split at the side that showed a little thigh. She was eyeing me and I was doing the same. Flashing one of my famous smiles, I nodded my head to the exit before I drowned my drink and placed the glass on the counter. Walking out, I could hear her heels clicking behind me. Going into a small room where the staff changed, I left the door ajar. A few seconds later it was opened and then closed with the latch by the red-haired stranger.

Taking her by the hand, I drew her close to me and I could feel her nipples perked up against my chest. Pushing her against the wall, I lifted one of her feet and wrapped it around me before my hand made their way up underneath her dress. I could hear her panting and I could smell her arousal in the air. Shifting her panties to the side, my fingers began to play in her wetness. Kissing her on the neck, I inhaled her scent. She smelled of strawberries, and I couldn't help myself. Running my tongue up and down her neck, I felt her body shivered beneath me.

Taking out the orange juice, I poured some into two glasses before I started looking around the kitchen, trying to find something for my mom to eat. I can't let what happened the last time happen again with her ending up in the hospital. Finding bread, I took out four slices and toast it before placing two slices in separate places and buttered them. Taking up one of the plates and glass, I walked to my mother's room.

"Hey mom," I greeted her cheerfully. "I know it's not much but this is all we got for now. When I am at lunch I will buy something and bring it to you okay."

"Okay sweetheart, have a great day and tell Adam I said hello." Nodding my head, I kissed her goodbye. Going back inside the kitchen, I hurriedly ate my toast and drank my orange juice before I grabbed my stuff and exited my apartment. Walking to the bus stop I felt uneasy. It was the same feeling I had experienced a few days ago when I was coming home from work and I honestly didn't like the feeling.

I could feel a pair of eyes drilling a hole in my head and it was causing the hair on the back of my neck to stand up. Turning around, I started looking around wildly but I couldn't pinpoint exactly who was staring at me. I was well aware that persons on the street were giving me questioning glances while some were giving me worried looks but I didn't care.

I know I wasn't crazy, I know someone is watching me and I don't know who and why.
