Adam

When I saw her rushed out I knew something was terribly wrong. Excusing myself, I rushed after her. She was a good distance ahead of me and I wanted to catch her up but when I saw that she had run into the ladies' room and closed the door behind her, I knew that she didn't want me inside with her. Calling her name, I waited for her to answer. I raised my fist to bang on the door when I heard a thud in the bathroom.

"Emily," I shouted, but there was still no answer. Holding on to the door handle, I prayed that the door was open and no one else was in the bathroom and nothing bad had happened to her. Turning the handle, I was relieved that the door was in fact opened because I knew she was famous for locking doors. Poking my head inside, I saw that she was on the floor and that the bathroom was empty.

Stepping inside, I knelt down over and gently shook her. There was no response and I immediately started to worry. Going over to the sink, I turned on the tap and took out my handkerchief from my pocket. Wetting it, I went over to her and dabbed her forehead.

Stirring a bit, she opened her eyes and sat up. "Emily, what happened to you? Why did you faint?"

"I am having premenstrual syndromes."

"So that's what made you faint? That's why you ran out Because you are having premenstrual syndromes?" I asked in an unsure tone.

Nodding her head, I got up and took her hand, and lifted her. Holding her in my arms for a few seconds I let her go. I knew she was lying but I wasn't going to pressure her to give me an answer. When she was ready I know she would be telling me what happened. For now, I would be giving her the benefit of the doubt. All I know for sure that whatever she received on her phone had made her very frightened and afraid so much that she had fainted.

"Do you take something for premenstrual syndromes or should I take you to the doctor?"

"Uh, I am fine now. No need to bring me to the doctor."

"Can you make it back to the meeting or should I bring you back to the hotel?"

Striping her out of her clothes, I got her dressed in one of my shirts before I made her climb into bed, making sure that the room was dark enough. Stripping out of my clothes, I went to take a shower before I climbed into bed with her and within minutes I was knocked out. Waking up a few hours later, I climbed out of bed and went to look out the window. It was dark out and I couldn't help but admire the night sky. Letting my gaze linger for a few more minutes, I went to take up my phone and check the time. It was now seven pm which meant that I was sleeping for six hours, which was new for me. I hardly ever sleep in the day and if I do it wouldn't be so long, I guess Emily had worn me out more than I thought. Hearing Emily's phone goes off, I looked over and saw that she stirred before getting up fully and sitting up in bed. Taking up the phone, she started smiling.

"My mom says I should tell you, hello and she hopes you are taking good care of me."

Chuckling, I replied. "She doesn't need to worry, I am taking really good care of you."

Laughing, she placed her phone on the bed before getting up to take a shower. Looking at the phone, curiosity settled in and a wondered if I should check her messages to see what had gotten her to faint earlier. Thinking back, I know I saw her looking at her phone before she sprinted out of the conference room. Torn between waiting for her to tell me and not invading her privacy had gotten me irritated with myself. Choosing the latter, I decided that I was going to let her tell me when she was ready. Coming out of the bathroom, I saw she was about to put on my clothes when I told her to get dressed in something casually.

Nodding her head, she went over to her room and emerged a few moments later in a black skirt and blue top with black flats on her feet. Putting on some jeans and a white t-shirt and black converse shoes, we left my room together and made our way to the lobby before exiting the building. Walking over to the next block hand in hand on unto the path that led to the river, I couldn't help but feel that someone was watching us.
