Hailynn
"For the millionth time, amore, no."
"Dante-"
"No. No means no. For God's sake, amore, you're almost eight months along. You can hardly work on your own."
"That's why you're going with me."
"No."
I gave him a pout and my famous puppy dog eyes that I realized during my pregnancy that it works against him. I can get whatever I want with these eyes.
"Oh, no. Don't give me that look. It's not gonna work this time." He wasn't even looking at me straight. Surely because of fear that he might be swayed because of my eyes.
He continued to work on some documents behind his desk. My shoulder slumped in disappointment.
You must be wondering what I had been asking from my handsome Italian man, the father of the twins inside my belly. I simply wanted to visit my parents' grave.
I have been bugging him about this since we woke up. I even got to the point where I threatened him that he will not sleep with me ever. He confidently shrugged and responded that it will not last long and he will be happy to sleep in another room just as long as I don't get to go out.
I sat down on one of the couches in his study in a defeated state. I heard Dante stepped out of his desk and approached me. He crouched down so his face and height could level my sitting position.
"Amore, you must understand. You're in a state right now that I always worry. What if something happens and I might not know what to do? You know I'm still new to this just as you are. You're even carrying two human beings which is not that easy."
I brushed him off by standing up. I didn't look at him and ignored him as I walked out of his study. I heard him sighing heavily on my way out.
I just wanted to see my parents' grave. I wanted to talk to them that could only be done in front of them. Why can't he allow me just this time? I have been so obedient to him and only asked this huge request once this time.
"Hailynn?" I raised my head and saw Leo who stopped in front of me, eyeing me with concern. "You okay?" He asked again with a frown.
I smirked inwardly when an idea popped in my head.
I nodded. "Yeah. It's just... Dante couldn't go with me to the cemetery so I'm a bit sad. I wanted to visit my parents' grave but he said he can't go with me and just suggested to ask one of his men instead."
His eyebrows knitted in disbelief. "Angelo said that?" I could see the look he was giving me. It seemed he didn't believe that his best friend could let me go easily.
I nodded innocently. "Could you go with me, Leo? We're not going to take long. I'm just going to give them their favorite flowers and then we go back." Leo was silent and was only staring at me. But I did my best by using my puppy eyes.
He sighed. "Alright." I did a happy dance in the back of my mind. "Let me go to Angelo first and tell him."
I immediately grab his arm and pull him towards the garage. "No, it's okay. He's busy right now. I don't think he wants to be disturbed. He was working with a lot of backlogs you know. Why do you think he said I should ask one of his men? It's a good thing I met you Leo. I mean he trusts you the most. He'll be reassured that I'm going with you." I blabbered as I dragged him outside. My smile couldn't simply be wiped off at the success of my plan.
