Our unusual relationship didn't escape the eyes of the office staff.

My friend, as the office gossip pioneer, was the first to probe for information.

"Sloane, you and the CEO??!"

I replied simply, "Not together yet, still pursuing him. We knew each other before; he's my ex."

My friend's jaw dropped in shock.

"Oh my God!"

Since I'd said this much, I wasn't afraid of it spreading.

The next day, Miss Taylor made another appearance at the company; clearly, she had her own information network in this company.

She looked at me like some exotic creature.

"So you're Wesley's ex-girlfriend."

The office's gossip spirit was already ignited. Wesley closed the Venetian blinds, blocking those eager gazes.

He seemed a bit distressed.

"Why are you here again? Didn't I tell the security downstairs not to let you in?"

Miss Taylor looked smug. "I have my ways."

After her moment of pride, she became serious. "Wesley, how could you get back with your ex? Didn't you say there would be no reconciliation with your ex, only revenge?"

Wesley's expression darkened. "When did I say that? Don't make things up."

Miss Taylor cowered slightly, weakly saying, "Must you get back with your ex? Couldn't you be with me instead? It's a task my family gave me..."

Wesley firmly refused. "Don't even think about it. Not causing you trouble is already a courtesy due to our families' relationship."

When Miss Taylor saw she couldn't persuade Wesley, she turned to convince me.
