“Laurence, I’m your uncle. I even carried you in my arms when you were but a baby.”

Tony asked anxiously, “We haven’t seen each other in thirty years, and I have lots and lots I want to talk to you about. Are you not willing to even have a meal together?”

In terms of seniority, he was Laurence’s second cousin once removed.

Tony and the previous family head were second cousins, and his grandfather and Laurence’s great-grandfather were half-siblings with different mothers. Tony spluttered before replying, “You’re not the only one named Laurence Longbottom out there, yes, but you look very much like your father. Your father and I were as close as brothers. We grew up together and I was very close to him.”

He had gotten married early and had kids early too. Laurence’s father, on the other hand, was younger than him and had married late. He had only started having kids a few years after getting married, too, and Laurence was his youngest child, so the age gap was big.

Manny and Laurence were considered to be of the same generation, but Laurence was only in his early thirties, while Manny was already well into his fifties.
