Finn had been born a year after Angel went away to the academy, but unlike their elder brother, he had their father’s bronze skin, blue hair, and was born with wings and teeth, like the little devil he was. It had been said he had been born like that because their mother now shared a mark with their father which made her carry a part of the demon blood that gave Finn the advantage of being born with more percentage of the demon side in him, his growth had been as sudden as his birth had been. He wasn’t even in the womb for more than five months!
He had begun teasing her and getting on her nerves since the moment he was born. She loved him as much as she loved her entire family, but sometimes he needed to be reminded that she was his elder sister and he needed to pause and show respect and not always push her out of his way.
"Mama! Your daughter is about to kill me! Help me!" Finn yelled, his deep voice echoing down the corridor and reaching their mother and father, who were in their room preparing for dinner.
Belle, who was dressing in a hurry to meet her elder son, turned toward the door at the sound of her younger son’s voice. Then she looked at her husband through the mirror, where he was tying the lace of her dress behind her and smiling.
"If I were truly a full human, Rohan, I believe these two would have long made me suffer from a heart attack. They are always fighting," she muttered. "I thought hearing about their older brother’s return would at least make them act normal for a day, like siblings should, without a fight."
"Let them fight. It’s not like it’s the first time, my love," Rohan remarked calmly. Along with his wife, he still looked as young and as fresh as the day they married, already used to his children fighting and yelling despite them being adults. They were like cats and rats in the house.
"We had Finn because we believed Rosey needed a sibling to bond with when Angel was away, but they started fighting in the first week Finn was born. Demon children are really born different," she mused. Though she said those words, she loved her children and never regretted having any of them, no matter how difficult they were.
"It’s the way they show their love for each other. They fight a lot, but they still love each other the most, that’s what matters," Rohan replied as he tied the last string. Then he wrapped his arms around her and hugged her from behind. "You look beautiful, Isa." He kissed her neck, causing her to smile before she pushed him away so they wouldn’t waste time.
"Let’s go welcome our so—"
"Mama, help me from this she-devil before she rips off my hair! She’s going to kill your son!" Finn’s voice boomed into the room again, causing their mother to roll her eyes.
"Oh, I will indeed kill you if you don’t apologize," Rosey replied, pulling his hair even tighter. "Say sorry, little brat."
"Ouch, ouch! Sorry, sorry!" Finn cried. "I was running to meet brother Max outside. I didn’t see you coming out of your room. Now please let go of my hair before you ruin my perfect hairstyle and wrinkle my expensive clothes."
"Did you think I would let you go just because you said sorry?" Rosey scoffed. "I want you to say, ’Sorry, Mother, I didn’t know your lovely self was standing there.’ Say it, and I will release you."
Finn, though a fully grown demon, could easily break free from his sister’s grip. But their mother had not raised him to manhandle any female, especially his sister, so the only way to escape was to say those ridiculous words, which he absolutely refused to do, even if she pulled all his hair out.
"Aha! Just because you look like Mama doesn’t mean you are her. Papa, tell your princess to release my hair!" Finn called out to their father, who still pampered and spoiled Rosey as if she were a baby. He couldn’t even imagine manhandling her in any way.
"Rosey, Finn, you two are at it again," their mother’s voice called as she walked toward them, their father beside her with his arm wrapped around her waist. "Let go of your brother. And for goodness’ sake, why are you still wearing those male clothes?"
Rosey released Finn’s hair, and he was on his feet in a blink, running down the stairs while calling her a piglet. She let him go, already planning to get back at him later, after enduring the scolding she had expected would come from her mother for wearing trousers instead of a dress.
"Just like I always say, Mama, I feel much more comfortable in this than in dresses," Rosey said, spreading her arms.
She saw her mother glance at her father, clearly expecting him to intervene and scold her. But as always, her Papa said,
"She looks good in trousers and shirts, my love," Rohan remarked, seeing nothing wrong with his princess’ dressing. In truth, he didn’t mind at all. Her way of dressing always repelled men, and any man foolish enough to find fault with his daughter wearing what she liked and loved didn’t deserve her and shouldn’t even breathe the same air as her, let alone come anywhere close.
