"You stubborn kid, just take it. This card is yours, and who else would I give it to? Use it to get something nice for your family."

Cole reluctantly accepted it.

"Dad, what's going on with Dorian and his wife? Didn't he remarry and have a son? Why haven't we seen them around?"

Brandon glossed over the details about Sydney, Shay, and Dominic.

Brandon was indignant, "Sydney is bad news, cold-hearted as they come. Her kids, well, you can't expect much from them. Shay, as a stepdaughter, has her eyes on Oliver. And Dominic, don't even get me started; he's ambitious as a wolf. Our Baldwin family has already given him so much, yet he still wants more power for himself."

Cole's eyes flashed coldly for a moment, but he quickly regained his calm, modest demeanor.

"Good thing we caught on early, or else the Baldwin family would have been bled dry," Cole chuckled.

"I've been telling Dorian to focus on Oliver, but he got wrapped up with those plotting against him. Luckily, he's still alive to see your return," Brandon fumed.

Brandon changed the subject, "Cole, I heard you've been working in banking over in Tokyo?"

"Yes, I have."

"What are your plans now? Are you going to join the family business, or keep doing your own thing?"

Cole was surprised Brandon brought up work matters so soon.

"Dad, what I've been doing in Japan is quite different from what Oliver manages at the company. I think I'll stick to my own field for now."

Brandon gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder, "How about you start by managing a smaller company, get the hang of things? Once you're ready, you can join the main company and support Oliver."

Cole frowned slightly, "Ningning working at her company?"

Makiko explained what had happened that day.

Sandi beamed, "Sister-in-law has been really kind, buying us clothes and offering me a job. I might not need new clothes, but she's been genuinely nice."

Cole glanced at Sandi, wondering how he ended up with such a naive daughter. It didn't seem like she'd inherited any of his shrewdness.

His expression turned serious as he said, "Ningning, you shouldn't accept it. That's Josefina's company. If you don't perform well, it'll reflect badly on her. And if you do well and decide to strike out on your own, people will talk behind your back."

Makiko stayed silent, still weighing the pros and cons of the situation.
